Is Sachin Champion of Statistics?

Although there is an ongoing debate about Sachin Tendulkar whether he is greatest batsman after Bradman or not and many people insist that he is a selfish batsman, he is not a match winner , he scored more runs against weak bowlers on dead wickets etc. However everyone seems to agree that he is champion of statistics, but is he really??? Or is it just the fact that he has played more test matches than any other batsman.
I have done some maths here, Sachin has played 188 test matches. I chose few batsmen from here and there and equated their test records to project their stats for 188 test matche i.e. as if they had played 188 tests. Please see below:
(please note that I haven’t included Don Bradman in the list as his records are uncomparable)

Tests Innings N.O Runs Highest Average Century Fifty

Sachhin Tendulkar 188 311 32 15470 248* 55.44 51 65
Jacque Kallis 188 318 48 15300 224 56.78 52 68
M. Jayawarthene 188 313 19 14806 374 50.43 43 59
Kumar Sangakara 188 317 21 16572 287 55.97 50 67
Mohammad Yousuf 188 326 25 15723 223 52.29 50 69
Herbert Sutcliffe 188 292 31.329 15856 194 60.73 56 80
Jack Hobbs 188 314 22 16668 211 56.94 46 86
Gary Sobers 188 323 42 16233 365 57.78 52 61

Looking at above stats its quite clear that he is not even best by statistics. Playing more matches than other players does not make anyone greatest.

So we are to assume that Australia, SA, SL and England are not quality?

Frankie - this article was based on the fact that people go on and on about Tendulkar just because of his stats. But I do agree that stats don't always show the real quality of a player, playing conditions, situations, opponents and many other factors should be considered before labelling someone "greatest".

Neon - how many of those centuries actually won matches for India. When JT says quality it means that you make a contribution towards winning a game i.e. the really object of playing cricket.

Sorry, I mean "the real object of the game".

Frankie,

If you look at the best 10 bowlers Sachin has faced:

Donald, Pollock, McGrath, Warne, Wasim, Waqar, Ambrose, Walsh, Murali, Imran

He averages 46.94

Lara against:
Donald, Pollock, McGrath, Warne, Wasim, Waqar, Lee, Kumble, Akhtar, Murali

Ave 47.75

Ricky Ponting against Ambrose, Donald, Kumble, Murali, Pollock, Akhtar, Steyn, Walsh, Waqar, Akram

Average 56.51

This is what I mean when I talk quality

I do agree that winning a game is reliant on performance of 10 other players, what i am trying to say that when you win a game your performance is better than other team in given conditions. If you make a century in a lost game, you may have performed better than your own team mates but other team must have been better than you, in given conditions.
