What a tour! What can happen next---bad crash that has seemingly ended Vinky's career, but the car incident was much worse in some respects, are there too many ancillary vehicles, with non cyclist drivers?

As for the race, shaping up nicely, good to see Vocker in yellow, for a day or three anyway,Evans is looking strong and so are the schlecks, hopefully Con trador will fade from view,he doesn't seem the same this time round---maybe those testers are getting better and putting him off?

Wow - again!

What a superb three week soap opera we have developing as ever, and we're only at the first rest day.

That's it for Vino indeed - you could see how badly his leg was broken, and this was going to be his last season anyway. Ow!

And apart from being kicked off the tour, the tv car driver should also be prosecuted by the French police for reckless/dangerous driving, causing bodily injury, and failing to stop after causing an accident, never mind depriving us of the exciting stage climax that was developing between the breakaway five for the stage win...

Another seven riders abandoned yesterday, and others will probably do so tomorrow after failing to recover sufficiently from their wounds.

Chapeau to Thor for keeping the yellow jersey another day on Saturday though - superb effort from him.

And chapeau also to TiVo Tommy Voeckler for finally taking it off him yesterday with another one of his do or die attacks finally staying away after all his previous attempts.

So happy for him - great bloke - and he looked the happiest man alive putting on the yellow jersey on the podium, while Hoogerland just looked happy to be alive after the tv car driver's best efforts to permanently deprive him of the polka dot jersey...

Evans is looking good indeed so far this year, Andy Schleck appears to be improving also, however Contador falling off yet again after bumping into big Vlad Karpets is probably taking its toll as much as any improved testing

We'll know much more after Thursday's HC mountain top finish in Luz-Ardiden.

Meanwhile, can Cav haul himself up and over the lumps tomorrow to make it 18 stage wins?

Can't wait.

No more a drug fuelled sport is there than cycling.

Total waste of time

Er, Athletics?

But at least they test more thoroughly for performance enhancing drugs in athletics and cycling, hence they find them, unlike most sports that really don't want to know how prevelant they really are, like in Rugby for example...

Total waste of time deluding oneself about other sports like Rugby...

Chapeau Tommy Voeckler!

Awesome ride to hold on to the yellow for another day or two.

Contador looks weaker than previous years and to be still suffering from winning the Giro (or is it his new diet?), so looks like it could finally be Cuddles, Andy or on today's performance, even Frank's year?

Not sure tomorrow will change much, but Saturday should reveal if today was just one good or bad day from all the big favourites.

It'd be hilarious to see rugby players attempt to do what these guys did today, not for just 80 minutes with a rest in the middle once or twice a week, but for 6 hours non-stop, and have to do it again and again, day after day, for three weeks...

Oh, and with 30+ oozing stitches in your leg wounds...

Rugby players. Hard men?

Ever rode a bike.all them WUMs just don't get it.as for Golf ----you right, most drug ridden activity on the planet,if testing was rigorously applied it would disapear up its own sphincter!

well done Cadel you have done yourself and your country proud.
This is a huge moment for all those people that push themselves through the pain barrier week after week in order to participate in cycling through-out Australia.......
