One of the reason that always seems to be given about Barcelona's fantastic home form (besides the massive home support, and referee's decisions) is that they play on the 'big pitch' at the camp nou. This was trotted out by pundit the last two years when we played them in the CL and last night with Chelsea as well.
The pitch dimensions for the Camp Nou: 105 x 68 m
Pitch Dimensions for the Emirates: 105 x 68 m
Pitch Dimensions for Stamford Bridge: 103 x 67 m
UEFA regulations also say that pitches must be 100-105 x 64-68 m anyway for champions league matches, so is there something I'm missing, or is this just a myth that pundits like to go on about, or a comment about the way Barca play at the Camp Nou rather than them literally having a bigger pitch?
Barcelona big pitch myth?

Having an immaculate pitch is cheating.

Exactly! Football should be played on a mixture of mud and sand.
The sand is for South American types.

That extra width of a metre can work to advantage for a team like Barca as they've shown.
This season they've been invincible at home.

It probably should have lake in it as well, for the water based creatures who may turn their hand to football...

but the difference of their home away form is there to see.
Same number of players, with more metres spare is enough for barca to take advantage.

But this was brought last year with Arsenal, but the playing sizes at the Emirates and the Camp Nou are the same size

exactly what i was thinking! I have heard this so muchtoday I thought i'd investigate, and like you what I've found is that Barca have an average sized pitch. It's like you always hear how today's balls are balloon light compared to those used in the past. It has been the same weight by the laws of the game since 1937, before which they were lighter
