Jermaine Defoe???

Ok, after reading the morning papers this is not the sort of article you'd be expecting! So sorry in advance...

With Dimitar Berbatov clearly on he's way out to pastures new, Michael Owen is still in A&E, Kiko not cutting it at all and Will Keane being sent out on loan. Why don't we make a move for Defoe? He's being wasted at Spurs (for the second time) and surely wants out, so does anybody else think it would be a cheap bit of business that could pay off?

I rate Defoe as one of the best English strikers around, great finisher and grabs goals in and around the box that not many others would.....views?

He's not happy being a benchwarmer at Spurs. He wouldn't be happy being a benchwarmer at Manchester United.

He's talented, a deadly poacher and good on the ball. Has a tendency to just smash shots at the keeper at times. I don't like him or his attitude though, tbh.

Defoe's problem, other than sleeping with any 'celeb' or judging by that story ogre, is that he is he only has one way of playing. Play on the shoulder and poach. Meaning he can't be used up front by himself as the opposition sit deep and he can't do this. Struggles to hold the ball up too so he must be played in a two, with a big man. This is where we have struggled to fit him in this season. As some of the other Spurs fans have said signing Van Der Vaart has killed Defoe's Spurs career. Still a good poacher of a striker, yet they've been signs his pace is going a tad. I think he'll probably end up somewhere like Liverpool if i'm honest. He would just go from sitting on the bench at Spurs to United's bench as MyNani has said.

My main problem with him is that when he's one on one with the keeper, rather than place his shot he just wellies it as hard as he can and hopes it goes in. He's not a good finisher. And when your whole game relies on goals, that isn't a good quality. Having said all that, he'd be good enough to be our 3rd or 4th choice striker.

Exactly. I was trying to point this out earlier. He is a good goalscorer, but this is a major fault of his.

I can imagine at a top club, this riling managers and players.
