Listening to a Talksport programme on my way home last night and to say some fans are deluded is an understatement.
Two fans in particular were unbelievable.........................................The first was an Arsenal fan who stated he really thinks Arsenal will win the PL this coming season.
He cited the fact they have signed real WORLD CLASS players this summer in Giroud, Podolski & Carzola........................
Despite it being pointed out that Podolski has not really performed well in the Bundesliga the guy was adamant he was as good as RVP...
As for Giroud, yes he was good in the French league, but then again so was Chamakh!
Carzola looks good, but for every Portugese/Spanish who makes it over here around 8-9 don't.......................................Plus how many small passing midfielders do Arsenal need.
He even cited the return of Wilshere influencing and driving Arsenal foward...............................................................
I think Arsenal will do okay this season, but to suggest they will win the PL is fancyfull at best.
The other guy was a West Ham supporter (myhammers or muffinboy maybe!!) who thinks they will finish in the Top 6 & will have no trouble filling the OS if they get it. He he also thought that the track would be gone inside a couple of years...................................................
Now I know we have one or two supporters of Spurs who will get carried away with themselves at times, but I don't remember any claims we would win the title etc before the season has even started.
My own forecast is that there will be several teams fighting it out for 4th spot, because I think the top 3 could well be City, Chelsea & United based on history & current spending etc.
The clubs I think that will be in the mix for 4th spot are Arsenal, Spurs, Newcastle & Everton who I think will do better than Liverpool this season.
Fans: Deluded or What?

"I'm not going to read pages of wum comments henryscat, I just though Chronic made a very valid point in the post you quoted and your only response was "
Well, it's not a 'very valid point' is it? He if Spurs hadn't suffered a collapse they would have finished 3rd - but if Arsenal or Chelsea or Liverpool or whoever had started better they wouldn't have had that 3rd place anyway. It's all 'ifs and buts', yet people state it like a fact. There are 38 games in the season, the table is decided over that period.
The reason all I could offer was a was because surely we've had this dicussion a million times already, and such bold statements really aren't the starting point of a great debate.
It's a discussion along the lines of "if my aunty had balls, she'd be my uncle".

"I was only defending Spurs' fans rights to express their opinions on our own team on our (and the g00n) board."
No you weren't you were trying to imply I was too stupid to understand Chronic's post. Which is ironic as also said you had no intention of wading through pages of wums, and then wrote one yourself.

That's all very well Henryscat and I know where you're coming from. The ifs and buts are the debate though, they are what make football the sport we love and why we come on sites like this to discuss it.
If every discussion revolved around pure fact it'd be very boring.
As far as a general collapse goes yes - we had a run of form that put us in the bottom three.. that's not my point. The point is how easily it could've been different and how Harry seemingly failed to spot the obvious.
Seriously, settling for a draw (and not making any substitutions for nearly half an hour when a man down) to the worst Villa side i've ever seen when we could've taken third.. shocking.
I was actually fuming watching it, as were many other Spurs fans.

You need to calm down Henryscat - i'm not a wum.

"You need to calm down Henryscat"
I'm fine.
"i'm not a wum."
That's exactly the sort of thing a wum would say.
...anway, you have decided to jump in with your size 10 boots and jump on me for writing following a comment from a class a wum. Seriously, read some of the comments in this thread and find out who you should really be commenting on. Otherwise, what's the point, etc.

I also said "I'm sure you can do better"
If you want to get wound up go for your life, I simply saw a valid point about my team being ridiculed by fans of other teams.

"If you want to get wound up go for your life"
The only thing that's winding me up is you telling me I'm wound up.
....and for the record, I wasn't ridiculing anyone's team - you really are barking up the wrong tree here chum.
Like I said, weird that you should pull that one out the thread to valiantly defend - there's been some shocking nonsense in this thread from both sides. I see your point, but you really can't walk into a bar after a fight's finished and thump the cleaner.

I don't see it as weird to notice a comment that's one of the last on it. I'd say it'd be weirder to read through posts made hours ago and try and start a debate with them.
That'd be like hearing a fight had gone on in the pub, then going round to their house and throwing a plant-pot through the window.
For the record I didn't say you were ridiculing our team, I said you were ridiculing a very valid point about our team. Namely that the manager's gross negligence cost us points that could've changed everything. It ended how it ended sure, but the point remains valid.

"it'd be weirder to read through posts made hours ago"
True, but you'd appreciate the context of the later comments that way. And, btw, I didn't read most of the thread from page 3 to page 9 or so, it got a bit silly with various plant-pots flying around.

Point taken, I'll reel my neck in a bit in future.. or at least make sure i've got a few plant pots handy
