Younis & Gul Dropped From ODI Squad...

Finally we have got rid of Khan and Sami and hopefully a kick up the backside for Gul in the process.

On Umar Gul, both him and Malinga have not been the same bowlers since the two new ball rule was introduced.

When they bowl towards the end they get a 25 over ball, rather than a 50 over one.

Gul was dangerous towards the end with the more older ball, now he has to contend with a much newer one and improve on his new ball skills at the start of the innings or else.

"Iqbal Qasim, Pakistan's chief selector, said both were dropped for the sake of rest."

Just realised this comment by the selector.

I don't mind resting Gul because he has played all forms, non-stop and requires one. It'll help him.

But, Younis should be dropped, all together from ODI's.

Think younis' drop was all but confirmed after Azhar Ali's performances in Sri Lanka in the ODI's.

How is Gul resting if he's playing in the SL PL?

You are right about Gul struggling with the 2 new balls but its up to him to evolve. I seem to remember him getting reverse after 10 overs in the T20 world cups but for me he just has a pschological problem.

Younis will be back and will come good again, hes just had a woeful 12 months. Has always been an average ODI player, but expect him to return vs saffers in both formats.

GUL - Sorry dont agree with you guys. the guys lost it big time. The t20 world cup victory in england got to his head, his 6 wickets vs new zealand in the semis was his last real contribution. Bin him.

Also, wtf is malik doing in the team. Dropped vs lanka and now re-selected again. This guy is a bad smell that just doesnt want to go away. I hope he fails, so we can get shot of him once and for all.

Other than that, good squad. Two teams with lots to prove.
