Images that will go down in history

I'm talking all sports and remarkable events captured on film

This is inspired by the Belgium GP , a Ferrari had a camera on board and he's happily whizzing along when all of a sudden another car comes out of nowhere and flies over his head ...a heart stopping moment

The absolute iconic moment has to be 1966 WC final with the Some people quote .....I don't need to say the whole quote as every knows it .. hmmm kinda proves my point

Ah McGuigan. I remember all these years later watching the Pedroza fight in a pub packed to the rafters. The atmosphere was incredible. One of them sporting occassions that sticks in the mind.

Similarly remember coming home half cut from a day out and watching the Taylor vs Davis black ball final. The drama right through the night. Great stuff.

I was awaiting that response!

That's a pretty fair one as well. I suppose what I meant was more about the fanfare Bradman received whilst playing here rather than in general.

I suppose I should say no arrival on these shores has been as anticipated as much as his was in 1948. Especially with the post-war gloom and all that.

Wont argue your opinion though.

It could make for an interesting thread down the line about who are our favourite and most loved 'outsiders'. Be a few I imagine.

For us Spurs fans it Would be Ardiles followed closely by Klins , I'm sure all the other fans will go for roughly the same player for their own Clubs

Your own club Liverpool is a bit tough for me to call , maybe Jan Molby ???

Suppose that would be the case. Although I'm sure some would possibly look at Sport as a whole rathe than club allegiance and say an Ali, Senna or Borg for instance.

Perhaps Molby but I'd guess many would pick big Sami or Brucey and his spaghetti legs. One of our all time leading scorers and legends was a South African Gordon Hodgson but he's probably a bit too early.

Myself personally I'd probably pick King Viv...

Not sure if it was ever proved but didn't Bruce get tainted with a betting scandal ???

Viv the only man ever to captain his country in the Footie and Cricket World cups

My favourite foreign Spurs player is definitely Klinsmann. I was really sceptical when he signed due to his reputation for theatrics, but he was brilliant from the moment he did the dive celebration at Hillsbrough that day. I used to love watching that Spurs side with Teddy, Dumitrescu, Anderton, etc. I also enjoyed watching Redknapp's Tottenham. I think AVB has failure written all over him. I hope not because Spurs are one club I can't bring myself to dislike.

As for Liverpool there have been some unusual foreign imports; From Salif Diou to Torben Piechnik to Sean Dundee there has been some almighty strange signings. However, Hyppia was incredible and I always liked Molby and Craig Johnstone. Molby went from Danish to full scouse within a season

My favourite all time import though would be, sorry Squid........Denis Bergkamp. Pure genius.

Novak ...Mate you are as much entitled to your opinion as anybody

AVB .....tbh 3 games is nowhere enough time to judge him on especially when he has a fair few of very important players unavailable to him , if we are still thinking badly of him in 7 or 8 games time I'll have a rethink

TBH Dont tell my fellow fans but Bergkamp was brilliant

squid,

Yes he was, all rather sad really. He was cleared but evidence did suggest some foul play so maybe he wouldn't figure.

Some would I imagine remember him as much for the wobbly legs in the 84 final and the fact that he was a great Liverpool keeper who gave great service. Still you make a fair point.

Spurs goinh back have had a great tradition with imports who've became cult heroes, more so than most. Where as we've been heavily influenced by Scotland in particular.

You're a big Viv fan squid? Even your average non-Cricket fan enjoyed him, says something.

Hi Major

Viv was the best striker of a ball I've seen in over 40 years and one of the few players who could fill a ground on his own

Been fortunate to see lots of the top top top world stars play live including Beefy , Tendk , Lara and Viv

He was the best , all close but Viv by a whisker
