Afridi - Times Up!

Another poor series for Afridi with both bat and ball. His get out clause off being a bowler is now a thing of the past as now teams know how to play against him. Batsman have learnt that when he bowls his leg spin he bowls it quick and to NOT cut Afridi. He has no plan B with his bowling and his variations are just hit me balls.

Where do we start with his batting? It's nothing more than an anti-climax and you have to argue who will score you more runs? Afridi or Umar Gul Basically when it comes to batting against a spin bowler he has a 25% chance of hitting a few with his eyes shut but now teams just put the quick bowlers on and he just cant hit them. He will every now and then have that one innings in a blue moon but how long can we feed of that?

We won our only game when he was not in the side and I think its time to play a true all rounder like Azam or even Malik but for me its time Afridi called it a day.

A wonderful character and cricketer and don't know too much about his recent form, other than that yesterday was not a good day at the office for him.

For me it’s a case of people expecting too much, even before anything has happened. There is this presumption that Afridi can do this, do that, should do this and should do that. When in fact the thought process of what to expect from him should not be like that.

The main problem is his batting, not bowling. That I don’t have the problem with. It’s the batting that affect his performance and the team’s performance.

He should only bat when he has to, and the only way that can be done is by having another all-rounder in the lower order with him. Hammad Azam comes to mind.

Plus, from what I have seen from, Afridi there are a number of chances, and the majority of chances that are not taken off his bowling. He still has taken his fair share wickets in 2012, so I wouldn’t blame him completely. Or call for his head for that matter.

The main problem is the seam bowling, if the seam bowlers don’t do their job, and you expect the, Spinners to contain, aswell as take wickets then I’m afraid too much is being asked for there.

And, by the way he was nominated for ODI Cricketer of the year for a reason.

Hammad Azam would be a much better seam option compared to Tanvir and Cheema

I was amazed that Pak sent in Afridi at no3 the other day

Amir i'm sure his stats against England, Sri Lanka and Aussies have been pretty dire this year. He had a good time against Bangladesh in Asia cup and Afganistan but against the real teams he has struggled.

The guy can bat but he just never uses his brain

i think he has taken 6 wickts in the last 10 odis

he should retire, he thinks he's bigger than the team

If you saw Afridi in the last ODI, that showed that he is NOT bigger than the team. Huge respect for him for that, even though he, slogs and gets out at the wrong time etc...

Agree kash. Afridi should seriouslyu consider his international future after the T20 world cup.
