End Of Season Report

This season produced some strange football with all the allegedly big clubs underachieving as opposed to previous years? No doubt this made it more exciting for most of us but why do you think this happened?

Was this down to all the other clubs getting closer in technical ability and having better players? or did the alleged bigger clubs really underachieve?

What say you?

Man Utd's home form was consistent. All the other teams were inconsistent home and away whereas utd were only inconsistent away (and that's an understatement).

That won them the league.

Well you do have to play home and away!

The old adage was that if you won at home and drew away, you'd win the league. Probably not true in this era but it was good enough for United this season.

Did you also find the difference between our home form compared to away ridiculous?

We seemed so poor and shaky away on numerous occasions, but at home we mainly blew away opposition. Perhaps teams are still scared at the thought of old t? If so, we better improve away as i feel Arsenal suffered a lot by teams thinking "they're not all that, so why not have a go at Emirates"

I've never really understood why playing at home is such an advantage, but it obviously is.

I think United are often suited to playing away because it suits us to counterattack. But not this season for some reason

It was a weird season with lots of inconsistency in performance from many teams, not just the top six or so.

I really wouldn't have particularly put it down to a general improvement over the league, I would have said that the top teams seemed weaker, but then Man U go and make the finals of the champions league just to prove I know nothing.

As I said, weird season, interesting, very entertaining, but undoubtably weird.

No one finds Manu's home form a surprise. We all know why it is so good.

It is a matter of all the teams in the league closing up. The teams relagated this season were closer in points to the top than ever before (in EPL terms anyway)

MUFC threw away at least 4 points in away games but apart from that I cannot see how they could have really asked for more.

Chelsea had a some kind of mid-season mini-meltdown.

MCFC are a team in development and after this season they will perhaps feel a little more settled.

AFC over achieved with the mid-table players they have turning out as first team regulars. Down to Mr Wenger's superb man management. Lose him and they are doomed.

THFC, as most people are aware, need a proper striker to complement Defoe, as well as a proper GK. And they wont be distracted by the seious UEFA stuff next season, fun though it was.

LFC needed to rebuild badly after the carnage left behind by Mr Benitez. A rebuilding job started by Roy Hodgson and left for Mr Dalglish to take the credit for. They will be no mugs next season now that Rafa has finally gone.

The head-to-heads between the top teams this season don't really seem to indicate anything for the fans of any of these teams. MUFC won all their major home matches and lost the away ones. The rest were pretty much similar.

Nope it is the rest of the league team that have upped their game. Blackpool even pulled of a double over LFC and led MUFC both home and away. Excellent stuff.

Anyone know whats happening with Pat Rice? Is he off this summer? If so, who replaces him? Bergkamp?
