Australian umpire Simon Taufel has announced he will retire after the T20 World Cup. What a great shame because this guy was better than the Review System itself.

Fantastic umpire, he really lifted the standard of umpiring in international cricket and for a few yrs dominated his profession just like Aussie national team did but later Aleem Dar surpassed him.Also , was a positive umpire in the sense that he was audacious enough to give marginal decisions in favour of bowlers unlike some of his contemporaries like Dar and Hair.

Quality umpire, he's only 41. Not sure why he's retiring soo early.

He's going to take up some sort of post within Australian Cricket. He is young, but I reckon he'll be back though he has been at it for more than a decade. And, I presume Famliy has played a part.

He's retiring cos he doesnt like DRS.
