Has darts been affected by the recession?
What went wrong? have the London Olympics made a future generation throw their arrows for good ?
You only need to walk down your high street to see all the darts gymnasiums boarded up! And the trend shows no sign of stopping every week darts gyms all over the country are becoming victim of the chipboard/metal grill windows.
This Con/Dem government needs to wake up and take some responsibility for the future of darts.
Think about this, if darts had been included in the London 2012 games can you imagine the knock on effect that would have had ? Darts gyms opening up and competing against each other, darts and doms nights etc.
DARTS !!!!!! Come on lets raise the profile of this sport and get this country back on its feet.

In all seriousness, the one pub I knew with a dart board that is still open got rid of it and the pool table so it could fit in a few more chairs and become some sort of toss gastro-pub.

Pubs!!!! How very dare you admin 2 we darters prefer the term "Darts gymnasiums", as in "Just poppin down the gym love for a couple of swift errr workouts"

They don't play darts in schools anymore, do they....?
When I was a nipper, it was an essential part of the curriculum in every primary school in Bolton.
Nitty Nora, free milk in tiny bottles and a decent game of "arra's" every morning after Assembly.
No wonder the country's goin' to the dogs....

Darts in schools that takes me back, happy days a good example of mental arithmetics while having fun at the oche.
Can you imagine it now ? Method statements,risk assesments,goggles and body armour.
And the kids asking how do you switch the dart board on and has it got bluetooth.
DARTS! Come on don't get bored get a BOARD.

Could it be green shoots of recovery ?
I noticed that one of my local "darts gymnasiums" down the road having its metal curtians removed and a sign saying opening soon "One hundred and eeeeeeeeeiiiiiiggggggtttttttttyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy"
