Carl "the Jackal" Frampton from Belfast's Tigers Bay is due to face Kiko Martinez for the Euro Super Bantam title this coming September. Carl has only had 10 fights all of which he has won with 6 KOs.
The question is, "Is Carl taking this fight too early?". There is no doubt that The Jackal has got a lot of ability and potential. His manager Barry McGuigan thinks hes ready. However, we all saw what Kiko did to Dunne. The Spaniard is an experienced and wily campaigner with a very impressive KO ratio.
I would have preferred Carl to have had a couple more fights. Having said that, I still feel he will have too much for Kiko.
Too soon for The Jackal?

Interesting match up. Kiko is the warrior who gets the job done and Frampton is sad to be the next big thing out of Britain. I would like to see Frampton get the job done but will only be doing it the hard way with a points decision i feel

ASHBURTON:
Interesting points, but I feel that somehow this fight is going to be decided by KO!

Been really impressed with Carl so far, has the makings of a good un. Think Kiko caught Dunne cold in their fight so i believe Mc Guigan will have Carl well prepared for this, at least i hope so.

Yeah the Kiko V Dunne affair was a big shock. Especially for Dunne! Thing is, Kiko's got power, so hes always in there with a shot. Better to remove him asap, if you can.

So the Jackal becomes B&C champ in fine style! Its another step on the way. Time for Kiko Martinez and that Euro title next.
Handled the right way, I feel this guy can become a World Champ despite the close attentions of Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, Panamians, etc. Hes tough, focussed, fit, clever, reasonably quick and a very dangerous switch hitting puncher to the head and body with genuine one punch KO power! Watch the space!
