6 nations finale

Hi guys,

This is my first post on the Rugby Union page, though I'm usually on the Formula One discussions, I am a player myself and a full supporter of Wales.

Just wanted to say its been a huge twist in the Six Nations this weekend, I honestly did not expect that result from the England vs. Italy game! and with Wales putting the points over on Scotland, the chances of Wales retaining the Six Nations championship have been given a huge boost!

I'd like to know people's opinions on what happened to the English today, and what that potentially means for Cardiff next week, and what you all think Wales will be thinking ahead of what I believe is going to be a cataclysmic smash next weekend.

On a personal note, I think it will be a cold day in hell before England get a Grand Slam in Cardiff! Ha.

Leave the comments below and lets get a good old bit of Wales vs England banter before next weekend.

Nice analysis guys.

As usual i'll stick to what little i know about Rugby i.e. the front row.

I think Cole would have been decent against Jenkins as he's pretty solid against taller LHs. Jones will definitely have the advantage over Mako or Marler...Mako can scrummage well but he started bottling the hit against Italy then gassed hard early.

Marlers still learning his trade where as Jones has a very good technique.

I'm not convinced Hartley is the better scrummager these days, Ben Kay reckons Youngs is better now and i think it's pretty close.

My one concern with Parling is how well he pushes in the scrum, the Welsh locks always give plenty of muscle - i hope our engine room can cope it with.

I'd say overall the Welsh scrum will be slightly stronger but i think England will have enough to prevent too many penalties, it should be amazing.

HAHA Sporty... Got to stick to what you know eh hence the reason i tend to talk more about the pretty bouyz in the back. you just keep ur head in the dark dank places mate! and keep us up to date on the dark arts... as most of the time we are bewildered what you lot are doing in there

Lol Ding half the time we don't have a clue either!

That's why I love front row. You never know how props will compare until that first hit no matter how good they are in general.

Just like to mention Wales need a 7 point win to lift the trophy on tries scored.

England have named the first XV, no great shocks, perhaps Marler ahead of Vunipola, almost looks like a deliberate resting of players last week. Good to see Croft back in, bit surprised at no Hartley to start

A Goode (Saracens); C Ashton (Saracens), M Tuilagi (Leicester), B Barritt (Saracens), M Brown (Harlequins); O Farrell (Saracens), B Youngs (Leicester); J Marler (Harlequins), T Youngs (Leicester), D Cole (Leicester), J Launchbury (Wasps), G Parling (Leicester), T Croft (Leicester), C Robshaw (Harlequins, capt), T Wood (Northampton).

Replacements: D Hartley (Northampton), D Wilson (Bath), M Vunipola (Saracens), C Lawes (Northampton), J Haskell (Wasps), D Care (Harlequins), T Flood (Leicester), B Twelvetrees (Gloucester).

... and here's the Welsh line up, no real surprises, though maybe you'd put Warburton at 7?

Leigh Halfpenny (Blues); Alex Cuthbert (Blues), Jonathan Davies (Scarlets), Jamie Roberts (Blues), George North (Scarlets); Dan Biggar (Ospreys), Mike Phillips (Bayonne); Gethin Jenkins (capt, Toulon), Richard Hibbard (Ospreys), Adam Jones (Ospreys), Alun Wyn Jones (Ospreys) Ian Evans (Ospreys), Sam Warburton (Blues), Justin Tipuric (Ospreys), Toby Faletau (Dragons).

Replacements: Ken Owens (Scarlets), Paul James (Bath), Scott Andrews (Blues), Andrew Coombs (Dragons), Aaron Shingler (Scarlets), Lloyd Williams (Blues), James Hook Perpignan), Scott Williams (Scarlets).

I'd have gone Marler and Youngs so pretty happy with that...well I'd have gone Corbs and Youngs if I was able to but we rarely get what we want!

Two good teams there...Tipuric will be better than Jones if he isnt already

Do you reckon the ploy might be to bring on Vunipola later on to (literally) add his weight to the scrum - also as our resident scrum warrior, why Youngs over Hartley?

Hey SARS,

Lancaster has made it clear that he's big on impact subs and he rates Vunipola and Haskell as the best impact subs in the squad so yeah i think that's definitely his role.

I'd go with Youngs because his carrying is brilliant and he is great at rucking which will help compensate for us having Crofty back. I love Croft but he hangs out on the wings a lot rather than doing the donkey work.

I think Youngs will grind the Welsh pack down more so that Hartley can have an impact rather than the other way round. I also think the Welsh are smart enough to wind Hartley up and get him in trouble.

Dylan is probably the stronger scrummager but it's not a huge difference. He is a better thrower though of course.
