Nadal's season similar to Federer's 2012?

In 2012 Federer won six titles.

I think Nadal could win six titles this year. Dunno if he will be #1 for a few weeks like Federer in 2012 though.

In 2012 Federer won Rotterdam again after many years, Dubai again after many years, Indian Wells again after many years, Madrid again(first title on clay in years), Wimbledon and Cincinnati.

This year Nadal won Sao Paulo again after many years, Acapulco again after many years, Indian Wells again(first title on HC in years). If his season were to be similar to Federer's 2012, Nadal should win his most successful slam which is Roland Garros like Federer's most successful slam is Wimbledon which he won last year. Also Federer won IW and Cincinnati which are his two most successful HC masters1000. For Nadal to emulate him, a win at Monte Carlo and Rome should occur, his two most successful masters1000.

Both seasons coming after they were considered over the hill and washed up.

Both seasons could see their last slam win, AKA swan song at the slams.

2012 the last year Federer wins a slam.

2013 the last year Nadal wins a slam.

Are you WOW? Interesting comparison!

“Both seasons coming after they were considered over the hill and washed up.”

Really? Washed up perhaps only in Fed’s case but not nadal. Many including myself consider him returning after a silent ban (quit asking for proofs, just use common sense). If so, the stats alone don’t explain to us the huge difference in the background leading to their respective ’12 and ’13 titles.

Roger came to the 2012 season having, as usual, fulfilled his professional obligations playing in all the expected tournaments. But rafa didn’t. He came to the ’13 season after not only the questionable long lay-off (when he went jet-skiing, played in golf tournaments etc) but also having evaded AO without a legit reason in a most unprofessional manner. So what we have from Feb. is a player returning to duty after enjoying an extended “vacation,” in which he could practice and take it easy while the rest of the field worn themselves out playing a full schedule.

Of course, a win is a win, but when you have the full picture, why see only half of it, right?

“2013 the last year Nadal wins a slam.”

I tend to think he can still win RG in the next few years. Just like during the past 7 RG, he has virtually no competition (with all due respect to the current #1 and murray), so why not?

SSRR - are you Veejay? Same silent ban conspiracies, same lack of proof.

But then you know about paragraphs so maybe not.

Ava, I wouldn't be so quick to write off Roger. He's not even near the top of the hill, let alone over it

TF, was going to ask exactly the same question after reading the Op?

SSRR is most certainly Veejay - amusing chap though.

Speaking of Federer sad to see the decline in him this season.
