2013 FORMULA 1 GULF AIR BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX

Ladies and Gentlemen, hello and welcome to ManUtdDaredevil’s official Bahrain Grand Prix race thread. China delivered last week in terms of entertainment but Pirelli robbed us all of a good scrap. Alonso was phenomenal last week with the iceman performing miracles with a damaged wing, whilst Hamilton held off the finger . Not a huge fan of this track but let’s hope we get some exciting racing this weekend. As usual you can read all the boring stuff about this race from F1.com. I'll stick with the fun stuff.

Let’s get down to business. The Sakhir circuit extends its welcome to the Formula One road show. Not sure if the locals share the same view . Last year Lotus choked and should have won this race but things look positive for them this weekend, at least for Kimi, Grosjean is having a mare. So without further ado, let's begin;

A few facts

The Bahrain International Circuit is located in the desert close to the western coast of Bahrain and was designed by Hermann Tilke. No matter which direction you face, you'll be looking at a sea of sand. And that can be a problem. The local authorities spray the surrounding area with adhesive to prevent large quantities of the stuff blowing onto the circuit, but some still makes it and this can affect grip levels.

Pirelli were originally going to bring the soft compound tyre here, but have changed their minds and are going to use the orange marked hard instead. Praise the Lawd! Hopefully, this makes qualifying more interesting. Pirelli expect three stops, but we'll probably see at least a few teams go for two.

The trend for having two DRS zones will continue in Bahrain, but unlike in the first three races, they won't be one immediately after the other.

VIK from your post above, perhaps you can see why there are a few questions about Vettel's supposed dominance. Apart from last year, his RedBull has performed like JB's Brawn, which makes people question his achievements.

Last year he wasn't lighting up the place until Newey made it the fastest car on the grid for the asian part of the F1 road show which helped him overhaul Alonso.

I've seen Vettel do some amazing things, agreed but I'm not convinced he is the best thing since sliced bread

VIK, I agree with you. Some though have a quite unreasonable point of view when you question some of Vettel's achievements. F1 used to attract reasonable people who debate issues now we have the Alonsolots, Hamelots, the Buttoneers and now the Vettelites.

Shame.

If Seb went somewhere else and was able to replicate similar abilities, any doubts will disappear

Seriously I hope someone else wins the title for a change.

I hope Vettel takes a gamble and joins the Renault next year. Show us what hes really made of

If I was Vettel I wouldn't move, I'd wait for Red Bull to falter first. In theory anyone would take him, or at least you'd think anyone would take him. Theres rumours that Alonso has vetoed him being at Ferrari but as far as I'm aware no solid evidence. Other than that the grids his oyster

People have this opinion that I despise Vettel, I do not. Anyone who gets into an F1 car deserves respect. My issue with Seb is I do not believe he is Superman. That is all.

Why people are upset that I have this view baffles me
