Anyone on here

use Strava?

Are you a MTBer?

I never push that hard and the segments are only a bit of fun as they are all created by users. Still interesting to see where you sit in a league table.

Yeah, nothing serious though. Red trails are about my limit and i've only recently started getting into front wheel breaking on downhills.

MTBing needs a whole different set of balls to road biking. Not sure I am ready for that yet!

Just used strava for the first time the other day. My brother in law strong-armed me into it as that is what he uses. I am almost a convert, which is a shame given I've used map my ride/run for the past few years. The segments seem to be of higher density, better placed and more frequently ridden. Features like the wattage calculations on strava are probably quite far off but still a nice touch. Will probably use both for the next while now.

Interesting – just ‘stumbled’ on this board.

What are you views on Strava now, Admin1, having had the chance to use it for 18 months or so.
I only say this as I was on mapmyride for a while (and mapmyrun!), but downloaded the Strava app before Christmas when I finally got rid of my Blackberry for something a little more ‘app’ friendly (was using a Garmin watch before that).

Strava seems to be a lot less hassle and yet far more dynamic. How have you found it?

I do like strava, but it does change the way inside in that I will target segments at the expense of feeling exhausted the rest of my ride. These days it is now so well used as a cycling app, that you need a 80mph tail wind if you want to get a KOM.

Yes, I feature so low down on the KOM tables that I don't really pay them much attention (may be one day though!).

I find the PB's for the various segments are very useful though - especially as we tend to ride a similiar route each week.
