What a thrilling match today involving Simon and Federer.
One minute Fed is cruising, then one ankle turn later Simon is 2 sets to 1 up and winning 93% of first serves.
Why is Fed the GOAT?
Because for year after year after year, 9 of them in fact since he last didn't make a Slam QF, when the heat is on, he believes in himself, steps up a gear and prevails.
Credit to both men for a brilliant match, made a mockery of those whom before this match said Simon did not have the weapons to hurt Federer.
Roll on the next Frenchman for Fed, could be a cracker against Jo Wilfried!
Long live the GOAT

GOAT? If Fed is the goat, who is the cattle? The Lamb? The pig?

Federer outclassed today but that'll all be down to his age will be the usual rallying cry/excuse
That whopping 3 years makes a huge difference

I'll repeat what I said on another thread. Federer's mental strength is absolute hogwash now. A break up in the 1st set, and he folds at the first sign of pressure. I feel that he hasn't recovered from that loss to Nadal at Wimbledon in 2008. He hasn't been the same player since. He is the same age as David Ferrer, who covers the court like a fox. He looks more like he is 35 than 31.

Fed's done his business and done it better than anyone else.
He's at the twilight of his playing career, so is it really a shock he loses at an inspired player's home GS?
Ferrer still has a hunger having won no GSs in his career, it's much harder for someone being shot at who has already achieved to maybe have that same intensity now.

Sad to see Federer's decline. Will always be the GOAT for me.
