Just to explain the 3rd paragraph, Punk is an anti hero who lends himself to both sides of the perception coin. This character trait was a distinct trait in the attitude era. Which as we all know, was the E's best era.

He's convertion from face to heel was bad, badly timed, badly executed, but this heel back to face re-convertion i can bare with. At present it isn't quite working (only 2 weeks old granted), and i'm far from sold on the idea of a victory against Lesnar solidifying it, but when all's said and done CM Punk's character at present is a natural face. He was just in the wrong skin the last 12 months, despite his excellent match psychology, quality matches, highly inconsistent but still articulate mic work, it all meant absolutely nothing to me (i could make a similar argument about Orton).

People like Brock because he has presence, same reason people like Orton despite the undeniable fact he's been a collosal bore the last 3 years. They both come across like men and the crowd respond to it, it's all in the body language.

Brock is a necessary asset. A combination of his background and his elusive booking have giving him an aura like no other wrestler signed to that company right now. I have little problem with his rigidness in the ring because it's gotten progressively better every match, if i had to watch him every week that would've become a problem. His match booking has been a little off but if reports are to be believed alot of it was dependant on mass restructuring so could give the benefit of the doubt, and while his character persona is pretty plain jane he has a good mouthpiece. All in all i'd say WWE have handled him alright all things considered.

Daniel Bryan could feud with a sculpture of my tackle and make it work. Long standing Jericho vs Bryan is the feud i want like NOW!!!! The storyboard and promo psychology will send me to an endorphin induced coma

What are your thoughts on Ryback Mike? I was on the brink of doing an article dedicated to his potential as a dark horse for the company last month, but now looking at him just depresses me.

Its amazing to think theoretically the art of creating 'the heel' should be every writers passion, it's a manipulation of the very essence of our humanity in many respects (with our superior intelligence comes the responsability to use it for 'good', and the potential for the two to become intertwined through experiences, etc...). Yet in WWE recently they appear to put no effort into properly creating these corruptions? I don't understand this

they could cover ryback with as much glitter as they like, still a túrd.

the closest thing he has to charisma is slapping his head, he's been shown up numerous times as being weaker than other superstars, no where near the writers fault with him, there was just nothing they could do, it seems like every promo backstage he is reading it straight off a prompt card next to the camera

Like digby said he has no natural charisma.

Ryback was/is the deformed love child of our Brodus clay expectations. From that awesome promo on nxt, to his debut promos, he was THE MONSTER the fans were missing. The funky dinosaur thing, imo was the E trying 2 be too clever, I think they realised this and placed Ryback in that role!

Problem was, Clay had engrained himself on our psychi for a long time, he was a beast, with top class mic skills. When he arrived, that characther framework didnt disappear, the sub conscious horror at having our subjective appetites disregarded, meant we accepted Ryback as Clay mark 2. The reality being, we were getting an inferior product!

Why do u think he rose 2 title status in 5 or so months? It was becaue he was getting false pops from a dissolusioned fanbase, and was panic pushed.

If u do decide 2 do a Ryback article, it would be great as I genuinly think we have a quality talking point here.
Digby has pretty much being propping the wrestling board single handedly, so lets get some focused discussions going. P.s I think Digby loves Orton!

WWE managing to turn a fat guy body popping into the symbol of the American Dream - there's always a conciseable argument that the writers/promoters are at fault in pro-wrestling, they yield too much power not to point the finger at them during crisis.

The appeal i got from Ryback early on is the same sort of appeal i imagine you got from Fandango, where the interest came much more from the gimmick than the wrestler. Ryback was much better when he was completely monosyllabic, so of course the heel enjoys talking his boring pants off. In his monosyllabic brain, he'd mustered up a series of catchphrases that suited his destroyer persona and better yet were all getting over, so of course the heel shakes his fists in the air claiming he rules like a toddler. And as a face, he was actually a template of the 'superhero' that could've grown in that mould (something i'd love to witness after generations of torture seeing it ruin more diverse characters), now as a heel he has nothing to disguise his shortcomings that you pointed out.
