How Long Do You Give Ally?

Ok this is a hypothetical question at the moment but hear me out. I am far from convinced that Ally is the right person for the job and to be honest with you, I would like to see someone else in with Durrant and the rest of the coaching team getting their jotters too. Ally is too much of a clone of Walter as the nick of the football last season can maybe bear testimony to. He also seems to be incapable of changing things if his original plan isn't working and when he does, it has been way too late. His forays into the transfer market have at best been amateurish and at times cringeworthy.

That said, (and this is the main point) if we do find ourselves cruising the league points-wise but the football on display is route one pash, do you stick with him or do you say thanks for everything but we want someone in to take us in another direction on the pitch.

Celtic fans with any decent views are of course welcome but WUMs will be deleted.

Walters bad habits as you put it had us winning games.

The tactics that saw us in a EURO final were spot on and while I would have liked to watch more attack minded stuff he played to our strengths.

Its a myth that this was used week in week out as we won the SPL playing great stuff at times while changing it for Europe.

Yes Adcocatt did have us playing great stuff and we could debate all day which was better...so lets not.

How many old firm games had celtic pummelling us
NONE.

We gave as good as we got at Celtic park they got unlucky in the respect we had better players and a better keeper in particular.

But every game we won 1 nil could have been 3 each.

Go back and watch the Van Vossen Game we had enough chances to win 5 games that night
Watch the Hateley return game the score could have been whatever you like that day.
Watch the Gazza Cleland game won out the park
Watch the 3-0 game with Brown scoring
Watch the 4-2 game with 2 from Miko
Watch the 4-2 game with Pedro scoring the screamer

If Ally has learned from Walter as Im sure he has and will continue to then great.

i never said he was a clone, i said he took smiths bad habits and made them worse, whilse he inherited none of smiths good habits

The best brand of football Rangers played was under advocaat

So you're comparing Advocaat's £100m+ team with Ally's freebies and shoetring budget players who were prepared to drop down to the Scottish 2nd and 3rd division...

THAT is your problem. Not Ally, and not any of the (sometimes - only sometimes, so lets not exaggerate the problem here) pash football on offer.
Your expectations are far too high, and you don't seem to take into account we are where we are and we play ultra defensive teams who are playing their cup final when we roll into town.
Free flowing, passing, fancy football is going to get you nowhere...

There's some interesting comments on here about how ally shouldn't be judged on one match or one pre-season. I don't understand comments like that considering he has been in charge for nearly two years and was assistant for a few years before that.
He has had a long time to prove himself and clearly hasn't.
Seems to me that the rangers fans on here are in two camps. One group has already decided that he's not up to the job. The other group want to give him more time. I hardly see anyone who is convinced that he is the man for the job. That says a lot.
I would let him win the league this year, thank him for his contribution and send him packing.
Get a new guy in and give him a year to build before you go back into the top league
McDowell and durrant also have to go. Durrant was a great player at his peak but I watched a France v Croatia match with him at the state de France a few years back and his knowledge of the game is extremely limited. I'm not sure what he contributes. You cant afford hangers on anymore and you can't keep a guy just because he's a 'rangers man'.

we struggled and made it harder for ourselves than what it should have been during 9inrow if anything

winning 9 title in a row is never easy.

As for the OF record

I remember going from an Alex Miller thunder bolt and a decade later before we got a victory.

all im saying that despite us having a great team during 9inarow, the games v celtic were never clear cut like they were when advocaat faced barnes then dalglish or when oneil faced advocaat

obviously they wouldnt be
As average as some of the Celtic teams were they were always up for the games against us.

No it says we are watching him at a level where its not 100% possible to judge

No he hasnt

1 shambolic off the field season in the SPL where he went 10 + games without defeat building a massive lead before the roof fell in.
With the points penalty we ended up clear in second place.

He won the league by a mile and only went out the cups to 2 SPL clubs and a high flying QOTS (who got lucky)

So far he has done ok.

I love Ally the player and man,but not sure about his management credentials,as he has been in charge during extremely rare conditions, for the most part.

Problem is,if we bin Ally, who wants to take over at Ibrox?
