Wenger needs to invest in real defenders and not converted midfielders and wingers as he has done too
often in the past.

Metesacker is a very tall solid defender who plays regularly for Germany. He may not be the quickest player on the planet, but he is excellent in the air and
has good discipline,concentration and positional sense characteristics, which have been lacking in our
team.

Wenger must recognise that any team which plays Squillaci alongside either Djourou or Koscielny is going to leak goals and that must be sorted out before
start of season.

In my view Mertezacker is a far better option than either Cahill or Jagielka. They may be better footballers, but are certainly not as good defensively

You guys need to watch a little more Bundesliga and realize how terrible this guy is. You wonder why Bayern went nowhere near him this year and they were keen on a German CB to strengthen their back line. Hell NO!!

I am from Germany and I watch the Bundesliga closely. Mertesacker is not the level of Vermaelen and Kos but surely of Djourou. Decide?
