Revenge Not Yet Served!

Now, the last time we met at Stamford Bridge, you annihilated us out of the park, whilst we tried to play you off the park for 90 minutes. Now at that time we should of sat back, absorbed the pressure and countered any attack from you with our pace. Now, we cannot afford to make the same mistakes again, am pretty sure we will not because we are stronger mentally than last season.

Unfortunately we could not serve revenge on a plate to Rafa the waiter, but maybe Jose will allow us to provide that- There have been a few good games between us when he was in charge before.

That being said I hope we do not overreact with our win over Arsenal, we need to keep our feet firmly on the ground. This is going to be a tricky, tricky game and once again our defence will be tested. There will be goals, recent fixtures at the Bridge read, 4-4, 7-1, 3-3, 1-3, 8-0. You would win a few if you correctly made a bet on any of those games.

Now I expect you to score and be a huge threat, you have got a lot pace, intelligence and goal threat in Hazard, Mata, Lampard, Oscar to name a few. We need to make sure we are prepared well, defend as a team and counter with our pace in Gabby, the full backs, Benteke and others. We will be confident, but need to be careful, I would take a draw, but I think you will end up winning comfortably. By the way, including, tomorrows game we play 3 games in 7 days. Fackin' great.

We've been battered by Chelsea twice, but the other games we've done well. The 3-1 when N'Zogbia, Petrov and Bent scored was the only good thing McLeish did. Also remember the 3-3 under Houllier. Great game that was.

If we score first I think it will make a big difference and we'll get a result. If Chelsea score first (and early on) then we might be in for a long afternoon. Therefore, we need to start the game well and hassle Chelsea from the start while not being too aggressive and getting caught out.

I noticed against Hull (who are significantly worse than we are) Chelsea dominated early on then shut up shop. I think they're gonna be quite conservative under Mourinho so a big score is highly unlikely, although with the players they've got Chelsea are very capable of battering sides. I really hope it's a close run game because that would show we've made progress and the Arsenal game wasn't just a fluke and due to Arsenal being awful.

Let's see...

Against Hull, even though we took our foot of the gas in the second half as we do have some big games coming up, we could have easily gone into half time with a 4/5-0 lead.

I will take a solid 2-0 win over Villa, with us chilling throughout most of the game with one eye on the United game.

If we can build a solid defensive record in the early part of this season, this will give us such a big boost throughout the campaign, so no need to go and overload the opposition with attacking plays throughout the match.

So long as they don't play mata so Whittaker can come off the bench for my dream team...

Both teams are going to score. Chelsea ought to win. But we will be going there to win because it's the way Lambert does things. Is there anything in our favour? Well:-

1) You completely overran Hull but only scored two goals. The final touch isn't always great. We have a number of players who can find the back of the net.

2) You played quite high up the pitch against Hull. We're at our best when counterattacking. We could have some good chances.

3) If we go 1 down, or even 2, we don't collapse any more like we used to.

4) If we get the lead, we're a bit better than we were at holding it, and even building on it.

So, I see a glimmer of light there. It may depend on how Jose approaches it. If he plays the same team playing the same way as against Hull, we will definitely have chances. If he goes for more of his trade-mark defensive style, and drops Torres in favour of Lukaku, you'll win.

May end up even getting a couple of assists If he starts against Villa.

I feel todays game will be a 3-0 to Chelsea. A bit like our game with United at OT last season, they'll play quick, score their goals early then sit back.
