I reckon City will gazump Chelsea

Would be hilarious if they lost out to Chelsea considering how smug all their fans have been the last couple of days.

Surely one or two faces will be leaving Chelsea if Willian comes in, we should try move for them. (barring Torres, of course)

excellent point there.

Amazing. People always act as though the players they miss out on were never good enough anyway, or they are only after money. That they are mercenaries.

It's a career to these players. Just as anyone else would in any walk of life, they seek the best deal for them in order to progress their short career. If Liverpool come in, it will be an attractive proposition for a player, maybe not in respect of Liverpool's current standing (as a non-CL-club), but certainly in regards of the name and respect that Liverpool FC have across the world.

Spurs are also not a CL club, but they are closer to being one (that is, HAVE been closer to achieving that in the last few years than Liverpool have), so they will be a consideration for the player in question. But then, if Chelsea come in - a club who is in the CL, and won the CL a few seasons ago, then it is obvious why such a player may then step back and re-evaluate. Chelsea a better option than Spurs? Absolutely at the moment, just as Spurs will be seen to be a better option than Liverpool at the moment.

Were it the case that Willian had chosen Liverpool, signed a contract with Liverpool, then I have no doubt that the kind of posts on the Liverpool board on ja606 would be different to the kind of posts we are seeing today.

I'm waiting for my board to go like it re Willian if he goes Chelsea.

As it is I have not seen enough of him to make any concrete judgment. People that have seen him a lot seem to rate him highly, and he seems the type of player we need and will fit our system under AVB.

30m seems a lot to me for us to pay, but its not every day you get 90m for one of your players so its all relative.

If he goes Chelsea he goes Chelsea - we 'll just move on to the next target. Probably Erikssen, which will send this particular board in to meltdown I reckon
