Top 8 already decided 5 rounds out

With the NRL final 8 already decided means we are going to witness games very lop-sided with one team preparing for the finals and the other team thinking of the sands of Bali or Thailand etc.
Last weekend we had Newcastle put the cleaners through Canberra & South's put 50+ on Parramatta which doesn't bring people through the gates and the decision on which games to show live on t.v becomes all the more difficult.

I feel for the supporters of these teams that are not going out there and busting their gut for them or the club just the same, they are paid well and should be willing to put in 100% every time that jersey goes over their head.

You might read that South's & Bulldog's have got a chance and South's are playing as if they do, which is great because mathamatically they do have a chance.
In order for either team to get in Newcastle, Tigers or N-Z have to lose 3 matches and they go through un-defeated here on with four rounds left......so as you can see, it is as good as drawn up the final 8.

I just wish the clubs not in the race would lift there act and perform like they should and show some pride in the jersey that thousands would love to be in the position to do.......Cheers

Souths. Good post, but dont you feel this is the penalty of not having promotion and relegation. A few seasons ago wakey played cas last match with the loser being relegated, and 12,000 people attended, fantastic atmosphere. Imagine what the attendence would be without anything at stake.Call me old fashioned but give me promotion and relegation every time.I see the benefit of the franchise system but its not for me,give teams a target to play for not a comfort zone for 3 years.!

You're old fashioned cravenred. Promotion relegation prioduces yo-yo teams who are unable to establish in the top flight. Cas are a case in point. They were up and down but now are a midtable team and probably unlucky not to be going to Wembly. That is how far they have come.
Some seasons you have it going to the wire, others not. The NRL had a season where some teams stood out, others struggled.

I've never experienced promotion/relegation but I do like it in football premier league, but I feel they have the quality and numbers for it to be a success and I'm not a lover of knowing the winner some 6-8 weeks out from the end of the season.
On the other end (relegation I do love the contest from them looking down the barrel of being dropped.

This season re; the NRL is a one in ten year event and I can live with that.
