Another disappointing performance another three points.
7 Ikeme played very well again. Made at least three very good saves.
6 Doherty continues his run of competent form.
6 Batth solid.
6 Ricketts still looks better at LB but no real errors.
5 Golbourne caught in possession on more than one occasion and his abortive runs forward are becoming infuriating.
4 Ismail very quiet.
6 Davis improved from Walsall but still not where he was at the start of the season. An enforced game out of the side may help.
7 McDonald pick of the midfield
4 Sako football games last ninety minutes and midfields are expected to move around for the majority of that someone needs to tell this to the lazy ****. Far too static, far too narrow must pick up runners.
8 Sigurdarson MoTM. Should have got on the score sheet and worked really hard.
6 Griffiths quiet needs a goal and to feel the love.
6 Cassidy looked assured when he came on
7 Edwards his energy in midfield really seemed to lift us. May well start in place of DD.
4 the fans you sounded very quiet from the home end
Graham, Graham give us a wave.

Agree with a lot of your analysis tatter. I would give Doherty more than you and Siggy less but generally agree. I am much more positive about Davis than many people seem to be. And although I accept your point about sako he is our most creative player and I would be happy to tell him to forget about defending, cause he is useless at it, and concentrate on scoring goals and making chances

I think both of the wingers were particularly poor DJ. Hopefully see Sig on the right against Sheffield and Doyle back partnering Grif.
Sako needs competition for his place to deliver his best I think. As long as 50% performances get him a starting place we’ll only ever get 50% from him – he’s that sort of player, does just enough.
Were you sat anywhere near Bully?

With Davis out maybe we should go with a 4-3-3 for a game and see where that leads.
Evans.......McDonald.........Sako
Siggy.........Griffo...........Doyle
If these 6 cannot play together and keep the ball they are in the wrong trade.

I was on the opposite side of the goal to Bully but I did see him when he was persuaded to stand up and give us a wave. But its not rare to see him in with the Woives fans at away games and I have sat close to him a few times.
I suspect Foley will be asked to replace Davis cause Jackett may feel he needs a defensive midfield player in there and he is the most likely to fill that void. Not sure I like the idea of 4-3-3. The 4-4-2 has been the set up in all our best performances this season and Doyle and Griffiths together have been the feature of that.
So I would go with;
Sigurdarson, Evans, Mcdonald, Sako
Griffiths, Doyle
Although I would suspect Foley will play instead of Evans. And I would like to see Sako play wide where he is at his best rather than the tucked in role he has played in the last few games where he has been pretty ineffective

I guess the next game will tell us how rigid kj is towards a defensive midfielder in general.
I suspect you guys may be right regarding Foley.

i still think that sako is one of the few truly creative players we have so even operating below his best he is still more likely than the rest to create a goal. strange how different people see games differently but i didn't think he stopped running yesterday and he is having to change his game to play the new KJ system just like everyone else. the fans have to stop expecting him to be tearing down the wing every few minutes because that is not his current role (and i still think he is not 100% fit).
thought siggy wasn't quite worthy of an 8 and i thought cassidy was cumbersome when he came on. still would prefer mcalinden ahead of cassidy. we missed doyle massively as well, griffiths looking lost up front on his own for chunks of the game.
back to 442 PLEASE jackett
ikeme (played very well again)
doherty batth stearman ricketts
siggy edwards/evans kmac sako
girffiths doyle
possibly start with edwards and bring evans on second half. i agree that davis could do with a game out and we might just benefit from a more experienced midfielder in there. edwards did well when he came on, just as foley did when he came on against walsall. but i have to prefer edwards as it is his natural position and also because it winds cinci up so much
crowd was good from a wolves perspective - good support for turner, fairly noisy throughout, and an excellent 'yam-yam' along to the theme from dambusters after we scored. still always amazes me how some turn up and miss most of the game as they spend their time shouting abuse at the home fans but it is funny to see the sad youths who fancy themselves as top boys acting out when they know they are safely partitioned from any real aggro.

Its odd that Cassidy did so well at Tranmere because he has yet to show anything in his chances for Wolves. Be nice to think one day he will show something but we haven't seen anything yet. McAlinden is certainly a much better prospect, but might benefit from a bit of loan time to toughen up a bit.
Forde is another one who I have seen be quite outstanding at U21 level but is already in danger of being a forgotten man at Molineux as he has done nothing with his chances either.
I am also not impressed at all with Golbourne either defensively or going forward. Seems to make a good run forward then always pass backwards.

i think golbourne has been ok but nothing more than that. solid enough in defence but not threatening going forward (apart from the occasional mis-hit cross ) not having sako playing as a wide left midfield player is not helping either, as golbourne doesn't look confident enough that he can take on the RB or get back if he loses the ball.
ricketts back to LB and stearman back into the side would be the answer for me. assuming KJ isn't going to drop his captain.

I think at this level a purely defensive midfielder is unwarranted. Go attacking we may concede an extra goal a game but we’ll score an extra two.
