Just interested, not wumming.

Genuinely interested as to how Torres is shaping up in pre-season, lot of talk about his pace or lack of it, not many goals last season etc. So, hows he been?

Had a good pre-season, does he look like he is getting "it" back, whatever "it" is. What do you reckon he can achieve this season, 10,15,20+ goals??

AVB been playing him on his own or with 2 up front?? Is Anelka or Drogba hos partner, will HE be a starter?? Just interested as a Liverpool fan thats all.

Not bad mate. Not enjoying this intl break, Gotta be honest. Imo the media have ruined the England team for us fans. They stir up trouble and have made every issue into a tribal club issue and Ive never seen so many fans saying they hate watching England before. Was it like this 10-15 years ago? Sorry for the rant. Getting it off my chest

I don't think it was ever as bad as it is now, but to be honest mate I may not be the best person to ask on matters England as I lost interest in the National team a long, long time ago. I think that they have been too crap for too long for me, I remember following the team in Mexico in 1970 and in them days we actually looked like we might win something. Perhaps I'm only a gloryhunter

The last England game I went to at Wembley (which is only a busride for me) was 1972 and even that we lost 1-3 to Ze Germans. Ironic isn't it? I'd go anywhere in Europe to watch the mighty blues but I won't even go down the road to watch England.

I get mildly excited when they actually look like they might actually do something ie. Italy 1990 but watching England is like taking out and spending loads of money on a bird that never gives you a sniff of a bunk up

I know what you mean mate.

I do believe the media has ruined the England team for the fans. They create the hype and then they then create more headlines for the fans to read who subsequently vent their anger at the England team. This has been going on for many years now and its at a point where half the country and not even bothered anymore. I used to enjoy watching England. I didnt mind the Sven days to be honest but its gotten worse and worse now. Rockbottom atm

It is very polarised these days.

All the Non-Chelsea, England fans despise Cole, Terry (past tense) and Lampard.

All the Non-Liverpool England fans despise Gerrard, Carragher (past tense) Johnson and Andy Carroll etc.

All the Non-Man U fans despise Rooney, Neville, Scholes and Beckham (past tense) etc.

And so it goes on for all the other teams also etc, etc. With dis-unity like that being promoted by the British media just to find scandal and sell papers, it's no wonder we never win jack.

Exactly mate. They look for little "scandals" to happens. Promote it through their headlines, They ridicule players and managers and then fans lap it up unfortunately

To me, Watching England right now is a chore. Its mentally draining because of the reaction from media and fans when we win or lose. I never feel like that with Chelsea though.

Welcome to my world mate. The place you are now in is unfortunately the place that I have been for a very long time.

When Terry retired recently an oppo WUM on here said that all England need to do now is get rid of Lampard and Cole. He couldn't relate to the fact that I wanted it even more than he did and he wasn't getting a bite! His teams were Arsenal, WBA and Barcelona (how facked up is that?) I couldn't give a monkeys if they fill the England team up with players from other teams, as I want our players fresh and focused for us.

It's Club over Country every time. No question.

Definitely mate.

If you're stil around..What do you think of Cole who might be leaving as his deal runs out in June next year? Id prefer if we kept him to be honest. He needs to be given another 2 years.

I agree mate. I think Roman's policy of everyone over 30 only getting a one-year deal is pretty blinkered. Anyone can see that Cole's age and current fitness levels will easily see him through the next couple of years. It should be a decision that is played by ear depending on whether the individual has still got it (or not). Cole has definitely still got it and "It" won't be disappearing over the next 2 years. If we go through with this we will be shooting ourselves in the foot.

I've got to go now mate as I have to be up at 5.40am for work, but hopefully I can catch up with you again tomorrow if we both get time. Take it easy fella
