Wisden - an English biased book

Recently, Wisden published bigger tosh than Daily Mail's front page we see everyday. It only included two Australian players in an all-time Test World XI compared four English players.

No place for Gillie, Dennis Lillee McGrath?

Spot on Maf.

Might I ask who from the Jamaica Post posted that ridiculous comment? Or was it a random poster!

Knott was a better technician which allowed him to keep well in all conditions on all wickets. Gilchrist conversely went through some poor periods of form behind the stumps, due to him not being as solid.

Maybe they didn't go diving around so much? What on earth gives you that idea? Perhaps when you seem Gilly diving around though, it was often due to not getting himself set and having to pull off a pearler.

Knott did keep to some very good bowlers and a great spinner at that but Warne and McGrath were something altogether different.

I haven't contradicted myself anywhere. I've acknowledged Gilchrist as a wicketkeeper-batsman but there were better keepers out there.

Although I picked Gilly ahead of Knott, I have a high regard for Knott as kept wickets to Underwood, who was unplayable on wet and drying wickets (in those days pitches were uncovered). Underwood was a quick and skiddy spinner.

Arlott's quote on Underwood: England must always carry Underwood like an umbrella just in case it rains and it always does in England.

Chandrasekar was another bowler from that era who would have been very difficult for keeper as he said he often didn't what came out his hand, a fast spinner, supposedly a leg-spinner, but mostly bowled top-spinners, googlies, flippers, and yorkers.

About that Jamaican Post quote, did Ziggy Marley say that when he was stoned?

Going back to Knotty, whilst there may have been "better" keepers on the test scene, you could count on him to bag a century or two every test series. That's gotta count for a missed stumping or dropped catch no?

If a keeper is chosen for batting, then Gilchrist over Knott.
