Brock Lesnar vs Stone Cold Steve Austin

Heyup guys,

It's a bit quiet on here at the moment isn't it? Anyway, I was killing time watching videos on YouTube as you do and it dawned on me that I had never seen a competitive match between Lesnar and Austin. Admittedly, there was a huge chunk of lost interest in wrestling for me between about 2000 and 2008 (thankfully I haven't had to put up with Cena as long as some of you guys! ) so did not know if it ever happened. Seems it didn't as I can't find anything other than a non-competitive brawl from an episode of Smackdown.

Does anyone know if a match happened and if not, why that never took place?

My guess would be considering the size of their egos, I can't see either of them wanting to lose to the other. Plus I don't think they get along anyway.

Would need a third wheel to legitimize ANY sort of decision. Throw in a Triple H/Vince angle and it would transform into something epic.

It was supposed to happen on Raw when Brock was breaking through. Pretty sure it ties in with the whole 'Austin takes his ball and goes home' furore.

Don't believe it has, shame because it would clearly work. Their interaction during the build up to WM20 showed they have great chemistry on screen together.

If WWE could align the stars that would an excellent way to utilise Brock at WM30. Not only would it be a great match on it's own, it could act as the perfect way to further tease Austin vs. Punk with good writing.

I dunno tho, Austin is old no?

Austin probably can't jog for 5mins these days without struggling, and Brock was a wh$re really, selling himself to the highest bidder

Thank you for the replies folks. So it looks like it was teased but never happened. Two huge egos unwilling to budge then?

Pretty much Diamond! I think it was supposed to be Austin vs Hogan at WM18 but Hogan didn't want to lose to Austin so it was Rock instead. Shows that there are some big egos out there.

Austin wouldn't put him over and believed he didn't deserve that 'honour' so early in his career. Needless to say they aren't buddies. It'll never happen now and Austin will never wrestle again.

It was Rock who passed him the torch as he was the youngest WWF champion in history at the time and that accolade then went to Lesner. Rock couldn't retain the title in that match because he was heading back to Hollywood the next day for another movie!

Austin and Hogan can't stand each other. For me this was the turning point of Rock starting to eclipse Austin in terms of star power. Hogan passed to the torch to Rock which was the right move and that whole match is legendary. In toms of wrestling it's as basic as it gets but for atmosphere it's mind blowing.

Austin got stuck in a match with Razor that Mania whilst Rock and Hogan felt like a megastar clash. Rock went on to Hollywood stardom whilst Austin couldn't compete at that level.
