Celtic Board

I watched a video interview of Tommy Burns last night, the famous "they are there and they are always there" interview among celtic fans, then i watched clips of us winning the league in 98 and it got me thinking about how the club has changed in its relationship with the fans.

For the past 6 years or so when season ticket renewals come around I have looked at it and thought, can I manage it and is it worth it, maybe I shouldn’t renew this year, and in the end It never matters because I renew anyway. But for the first time i'm looking at it midseason and thinking that I'm probably not going to next year.

Although I'm not exactly inspired by whats on show right now, I've seen worse and renewed, so that’s not the issue.

Tbh I have never felt like Celtic fans have been treated with such a lack of respect by the clubs board before, openly lying and treating the fans like nothing more than a cash cow to be bleeded dry.

The most recent is the clubs obvious attempts to ship out Samaras and Ledley in which I can only imagine is to replace them with guys on half their wages, does anyone feel anytihg other than the board are hopeful of Cardiff making a bid for Ledley in January? Have we even tried to sort a contract? Also if the rumours are true and Samaras has been offered a contract on lesser terms then that is nothing short of disgraceful in my eyes.

Then there is the living wage situation, their blatant disregard for the staff, the fans views or the foundations on which our club was built again shows nothing but disdain, a club open to all has become a corporate machine intent on making money but not spending any, and anyone who says "well look what happened to rangers" is a moron quite frankly because the 2 situations are worlds apart.

These things are accumulating now, at the weekend I saw police and stewards approach fans for singing, not singing "sectarian" songs , just singing, and then the police recording the fans. I asked a steward about it once when I used to sit near the GB, he informed me that they were directed to do it by the club.

Now I don't like the green brigades sense of self importance but at the same time the club are happy to make money from "just cant get enough" & COYBIG merchandise, not to mention framed photos of the barca display, and taking credit for the atmosphere they help create - "The greatest fans in the world" - happy to take credit when famous clubs and players talk us up on one hand, and trying to shut the fans up with the other.

now looking at the points above:

Living wage attempts shot down immediately at AGM
singing not pertmitted without police observation
best players leaving again, even after we sold our best last year and replaced them with mediocrity, how will next years champions league run go if we even manage to qualify?

Where do we go from here? pay more money into the club? to sell our best players and give the board their money to ignore the "lesser" staff at the club? Any different from Mp's and the working man?

To continue to be treated like idiots? I laugh at Rangers for Green's outlandish lies but our clubs hierarchy lie just as much, they have just as little respect for the fans as Rangers boardroom does for theirs.

Treating staff and fans the way they do while stating they want to "progress" but actively trying to punt their best players for more money.

i support the crest, and what it stands for, but I fed up of the people hiding behind it.
