Stoke City host Liverpool in Sunday afternoon's late kick-off in the Barclays Premier League.

The Potters are in 12th place, four points clear of the relegation zone. Their last outing was in the FA Cup at home to Leicester City, and they progressed to the fourth round with a narrow win.

Liverpool begin the day in sixth place, having been fourth at the start of the weekend. A win today would lift them back into the Champions League places. Their last outing was a hard-fought win at home to Oldham Athletic in the cup.

Stoke are without Oussama Assaidi who cannot play against his parent club, and they have doubts over Thomas Sorensen (Achilles). Asmir Begovic (hand), Robert Huth (knee) and Andy Wilkinson (knee) also miss out.

Liverpool have doubts over Glen Johnson (calf), while Daniel Agger (calf), Joe Allen (groin), Sebastian Coates (knee), Jose Enrique (knee) and Jon Flanagan (hamstring) miss out.

Aly Cissokho receives the ball a long way out and takes an ambitious effort which is going well wide to the right of the goal, but it hits the torso of Ryan Shawcross and deflects into the net.

Martin Skrtel clears the ball up the field from his own half and Luis Suarez (21) competes with Ryan Shawcross for the ball. After it bounces, Shawcross inadvertently takes it round his own goalkeeper and Suarez is there to slot it into the empty net.
