Spoke too soon

Just had a browse through NewsNow.

Apparently, McLaren's 2014 car has failed its crash test.

The team is now in a mad rush to have the car ready in time for the first pre-season test.

As always, 2 steps forward, 3 steps back.

Oh well, with Dennis back as CEO and Ross Brawn heavily tipped to take Whitmarsh's job as team principal, a speedy turnaround can't be completely out of the question, right?

A bit embarrassing for the team.

Looking at the various tests that take place I would speculate that any failure would most likely be due to the design of the nose rather than the tub itself.

They should not have had any problem with side impact testing as every team has adopted a standard design from red Bull.

If it is the nose design that is causing the problem then it should be easy to fix but may need manufacturing lead time to produce a replacement.

Looking forward to them putting up a realistic challenge this season along with Lotus, Ferrari and Mercedes.

McLaren really need to stop sabotaging themselves. Thrown away championships and have lost some fantastic talent
