The Improved Footballer: Fabian Delph

I must say having watched Fabian Delph play this season I am very much looking forward to seeing where he can take his game to in the coming seasons.

He did not hit the ground running when he moved from Leeds, but there were a number of reasons for that. However, since Paul Lambert has arrived, Fabian has been given a constant role within the team and he is re-paying that faith with some excellent performances.

I firmly believe this is the season where he has matured as a footballer. Yes, he is still error prone, but one of the main reasons for that is his constant desire to drive forward from the midfield.

On top of that he has added goals to his game (some spectacular ones at that). But, in tune he has cut out on those rash and extra tackles he used to make, which is a tad disappointing. But, he still puts in a great effort in getting back and defending for the team- so in that aspect it has improved his game.

I have liked the manner in which he has stood out in midfield in those big games, i.e. Chelsea. But, I think the next step for Delph is to remain consistent, improve his passing game as a box-to-box midfielder and continue to score goals from midfield.

He still has a long way to go. A lot to learn and a lot to show.

How is he in a purely defensive mid role? Its the one position that seems to be missing frm all the young English players coming through. Could Delph be Englands DM one day?

He is not just a DM. He will go forward and back. The reason why he has scored goals this season is because he likes to drive forward. He is more box-to-box I would say. But would be tipped towards more of the defensive side, but it is the attacking in his game that is improving.

He should get a chance for England in a friendly. Better than cleverley.
Hes fast as-well which is missing from a lot of CM players

He's not good enough for England, yet. However, as you mentioned when certain players that are being picked are selected for England. Then on that basis Delph deserves his chance.

He should be considered for the world cup. Been class at times this season.

He'll probably be the best player in the Championship come the end of next season...

Great player, and would have shown it sooner in the Prem had he not had a bad injury.

When he gets into a run, he's hard to stop - similiar to Toure. Great pace and agility, but also good ability.

Agree that he'd get into a lot better teams midfields than Villa. Expect some interest in him in the summer. Should be at the World Cup, at least as the back up midfielder.

And there was me thinking he'd never make it and Lambert ought to shift him out... I wasn't the only one. Shows what us fans know!

Not sure he is good enough to go to World Cup as back up but then again neither are some of those who will be taken.

He has always been a good player but injury prone.

This season he has been really good although always likely to be disciplined.

Has scored few goals but getting there and those he has have been very good

Thank you Leeds.
