The view from the South Bank

I read the below excerpt from a Wolves fan in an article on the BBC website. I think it pretty much sums up how I feel about our club at the moment. Its a good article and testament to the job that Jackett has done this season. Lets hope it continues into next season.

"The last time I enjoyed following Wolves this much was the season we won promotion to the Premier League in 2008-09.

"That might appear to be stating the obvious - enjoying watching your team win on a regular basis and homing in on promotion. But it's about much more than that.

"Kenny Jackett has done what Mick McCarthy did, and delivered a team that's formed a wonderful alliance with Molineux supporters. All this from the rubble of successive relegations. We were ashamed and angry. Now we are proud.

"We were proud of the class of 2009, and we are proud of the class of 2014... for Michael Kightly, Matt Jarvis and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, read Kevin McDonald, Michael Jacobs and Danny Batth.

"Amazing crowds in League One, particularly at away games, sum it all up. We are being entertained royally and once again we have players who we trust. And a manager to whom we are indebted."

I'd give him a run once we've sealed promotion which fingers crossed is only a few days away

John is a journalist so not sure it can count as an indicative south bank view

Well I suppose if he watches from the South Bank, and is a Wolves fan, it counts. He's just likely to be more articulate than most.

(Especially for those across the pond) "Up the Wolves."

Nope, it translated well, pretty much summed up what I have felt and expressed this season.

A good article about Wolves. How novel! No bickering or fighting (yet).

I like seeing Wolves win and homing-in on the inevitable promotion and hopefully the Title with a ton-plus of points. It's great to read the articles in the E&S and watch the games that I get sent through to me knowing that I will watch us win again and cement our place at the top of the League.

However, am I proud? The answer has to be no. We are beating minnows of the ilk of Stevenage, Walsall and Crewe. I would expect us to beat such clubs 9 times out of 10.
We are winning a league that I would expect us to win. We are not playing "that well", but have too much for most of the other teams.

I was proud of my team when competing with the likes of Man Utd, Spurs and Liverpool, not when we struggle against Shrewsbury, Crawley and Milton Keynes.

Enjoying the season, yes. Proud, not really.

Not even a teensy-weensy bit ?

Football is cruel, you are what you are, not what you once were.
Buy a 160mph Jag worth £70k and 10 years later when its worth £15k its still a Jag and it'll still do 160mph and mix it with the big boys..

Be relegated to Div. 3 and that's what you are, third class, all the history and big stadiums mean nothing. You cant mix it with the big boys.
So to win that Div. 3 means you are making a big step back to playing with the big boys.

Makes me proud anyway.

I can see both sides of this story. Jackett has done well, good to be top and close to being Champions. So I guess I feel proud of how this season has gone but not proud that we are where we are.

I liken it to Rangers getting record points in the Scottish Leagues 1 and 2. They are doing what they are doing well but they would rather not be doing it.

We were a struggling Premier League team who have been relegated twice on merit. We deserve to be where we are based on that.

Rangers were one of the two best clubs in their country and playing in the Champions League who were made to start again.

I think comparing ourselves with them, would be a bit egotistical.

We are where we are, and can only do the best we can in the circumstances. Some might call it poetic justice, but I'm not sure it's as simple as that.

Whatever we think, KJ has done extremely well, together with the players of course, and we look forward to rising from the ashes again.

I see two readers have chosen to give the article just one star.
