remembering carl and nick hewitt

watching the football today and the games starting at 7 minutes later than usual brought back memories of my friends carl and nick who lived in oadby.I was at southfields college(now leicester college)with carl doing a city and guilds shopfitting course i knew he was a massive liverpool fan but he was different to most he'd go everywhere home and away to follow them as part of the leicester branch of the liverpool supporters club.nick supported leicester but went with carl as company .I remember the friday night before that fateful day we had gone to loughborough to meet some german students that we were involved in exchange visits.i remember us smoking cigars and being not drunk but very merry dancing to stop by erasure. I wished them luck and to have a good day. I also looked forward to that day as we were playing chelsea and they hadn't lost for about 20 odd games i was in pen 3 and that was crowded so god knows what carl and nick and the others went through.When i found out on the sunday that both had died i was devasted to top it all carls body was on the back page of the news of the world there's not a year goes by i dont think about them at this time but hold on to my memories of that friday night .......puts it all in perspective...god bless all 96 and the familys affected
