Success is spite of Mignolet?

Bruce Grobbelaar seems to think so.

Interesting article though.

Personally I think Simon has been a revelation. Could we do better than our Belgium keeper?

I think a lot of Mig's hesitancy is due to not knowing his defence.

For example, with Skrts and Sakho, they can be relied on to attack and win the ball. On the occasions where Kolo or Agger play however, and that isn't really the case.

Add to that playing a chunk of the season with full backs who had no confidence in their own ability, and I think its unfair to blame Mignolet for the amount of goals conceded.

Especially when people say Schezney and Lloris are better keepers, despite the amount of gubbings theyve taken this year.

Mignolet has been good. His shot stopping is up there with the best. He has made a few mistakes, with mistakes being overstated by many but overall he has been one of the best keepers in the league. You wouldn't expect a new keeper not to make a few mistakes and I feel it is more to do with nerves and a fear of messing up, having joined a massive club, rather than his ability. This can be rectified with time.

He's certainly been a massive upgrade on the Reina we had for the past three seasons.

He'll get better too.

Dont be so silly, he sets up from the limited games I have seen to attack. Now you are going to conceed more that way

I wouldn't mind upgrading him if the money is there. It's not a crucial place to strengthen in our team, but I think there are better alternatives out there

Lloris is apparently looking for a way out of spurs, maybe we jump in there? Arguably the best keeper in the league & will want to be playing in the CL

Keep Mignolet. He seems to be good at the morale thing and has made good saves this season.

Mignolet has not been perfect but he has been more than good enough. He has made a couple of errors, doesn't command his box well probably as well as he should...but his shot stopping has been world class. And a number of them have come at vital times in games.

But what I like most is that he is 100% switched on and looks to try for every shot. Reina, probably has more presence and should be our No1 but the last 2 years he looked like he wasn't trying for some goals...and that is unforgivable. Rodgers obviously saw that and made a decision....the right decision too in my opinion.

Mignolet is more than OK.
Not only because of his initials.

Time for a Stella now.
