Burnley Sell Austin, Promotion Follows

Burnley sold top scorer Charlie Austin in August 2013 and just have gained promotion. He had scored around 40 goals in 80 matches.
Selling a top scorer can work just ask the burnley fans.
There are always at least two sides to every debate.
I was waiting for the burnley promotion to make my point.
I would still sell Ross now, just maybe it would help us do a burnley!

WTF ?

Inges 25 & Vokes 21.

Without Macca's 29 goals.... Smith 11, Austin 3...........get a grip we would be relagated weeks ago

Now this is really educational guys.
Believe it or not football is a team game.
I wonder what the burnley fans were thinking when they sold Austin?
It's not about Ross or Austin it's about the team.
I actually know quite a bit about Burnley from one of their players via his dad.
Regardless of anything though they improved remarkably.
Don't be besotted with Ross.
Remember when we had better players and he failed?

You mean when he was played out of position and not given a run in the side?

Better players like who? The only real striker we have had since he came is Becchio and look how his career has flourished!

It takes a certain type of person to admit that they were wrong....you're the opposite! Pathetic

I do see what RSL and Luvr mean actually!

Look at the stars of Premiership clubs in the summer that were wanted elsewhere.

Liverpool did everything in their power to keep Suarez at all costs and look where that got them!

Whereas Tottenham held out for a big fee. (One that RSL wouldn't have bothered to do anyway) and look how well they are doing!!!

Hang on a second. No that can't be right. Selling your best players is not. The way to improve?

Maybe Tottenham thought it would work because when there close rivals sold Van Persie they couldn't stop scoring? Oh no wait that made them worse too!!!

What about when Newcastle sold Cole? Blackburn sold Shearer? Inter sold Ronaldo?

You give one example of a side that's improved because of a number of other factors and think it proves you are all knowing.

Nothing but a fool

I know they went over budget, but Liverpool selling Torres for £50m, and buying Carroll for £35m and Suarez for £22m has put them in a stronger position, even at the time it looked pretty good. Although, they are rare occurrences where selling your best player works.
