Hey everyone, I need advice

Hi everyone on this board, I just need some advice following an injury from players/ex players.

I've torn my MCL and Meniscus (knee injuries) in training last week and may need surgery in a few weeks to repair it.

Has anybody else ever had this injury/treatment and returned to playing after? Im only 24 and Im worried that Rugby is over for me, despite the fact that I have played for 15 years now.

It depends what level, I tore my medial ligaments and despite still giving me gyp on cold days I could wander around with the 2s and 3s at my club.

One piece of advice I WOULD labour though is to see proper physios about your recovery work if possible not just NHS - I always got the feeling they were tasked with getting me able to walk out the door and nothing else

Don't know anything about the medic bit, but I'd say this. Rugby is NOT over for you

I played my last game at 22 after I realised that I might do serious harm to my neck if I carried on. I'm 58 now and will be at my local club on Saturday.

Best of luck with the rehab and I seriously hope you make a full recovery. But if you don't, remember whoever it was who sparked the fire in you as a 9 year old. You could be the guy who passes on that spark to other kids.

I tore my ACL and ML playing football and while I never regained the power I had (I am right footed but tore them in my left knee) I don't see why you couldn't return to full fitness. I can run like I could and it is strong.

I've broken my leg, ruptured ankle ligaments and ACL rupture, in that order. I was fine after the broken leg, but the ligaments were really not great, can't play rugby anymore. Mistake I made was going with just the NHS for the op and the rehab. The op was fine but it was the rehab that was terrible.

Found them to be shambolic. If you're working and your work offer private health care, try to go through them.

I was told that I could play football after doing rehab with NHS. Within 3 minutes, my knee had given way, and I reckon I'd need another op if I was to get back the stability.

It wasn't ligaments but I had my knee restructured. It's completely fine now and I'm back playing. Though admittedly I was only 18
