You're probably not going to like the sound of this, but United have a real opportunity to learn something from Liverpool, and dare I say it Rafa Benitez!
When Houlier was forced out by a cartel of misbehaving British senior players, the first thing Rafa did was break that group up; selling all but the 2 most talented individuals (Carragher and Gerrard).
It must have been a difficult decision to make, and certainly a risky maneuver, but it sent the entire squad a powerful message that player power just wouldn't be tolerated under any circumstances.
Rafa then brought in some of his own players (most notably Reina and Xabi Alonso), whom he knew he could trust.
For me first on the chopping block would be Rio Ferdinand; he is long past his best and the level of insubordination he has demonstrated is nothing less than shocking.
There has been a lot of talk in the press (and forums!) of which players the club might purchase, but it is of far greater importance which players United should rid themselves of.
Which players do you guys think are now surplus to requirements, either because of ability, effort or negative influence on the team? x

MARLO - If winning the champions league is hardly any success..? I'm not praising all of Rafa's decisions, hardly, but in this regard he was sppot on.
scholayScholes - Where was Rio's loyalty to his manager when he started using his twitter account to undermine Moyes?! x

Absolute rubbish. The way people talk about ferdinand here is embarrassing. One of the finest defender to play for this club. Loyalty is something this world needs.

Ferdinand is out of contract soon and there is only 3 games left.
Get rid of him he will be gone in a month so why the tough talk of getting rid of him.

I wouldn't want Shaw to learn from Evra.
If it was the Evra of 4 years ago then yes but not now.

OP is totally correct.
BBC reporting that senior players are unhappy with LVG's strict approach.
They need a strict manager, Moyes was slated for not being a strong enough character, those (let's call a spade a spade) children that wear the shirt, need keeping in line.

What players did rafa boot out exactly?
Owen left because he outgrew you as a club. Who else?

nonsense, why is everyone blaming rio for the departure of moyes? how often was he played to contribute to the crap that was being displayed on the pitch, the manager was incompetent period, how is posting about a song undermining the technical know how of another human being if that person is competent at all, and as for the bbc story nothing could be more stupid, LVG has not been appointed yet and senior players are talking about him? to who?
rio has done more for this club than the damn moyes fella and he gets stick and moyes gets sympathy from the same people who were asking us to be loyal to moyes, just silly

You really think the squad of players are note reading/watching the rumours about Moyes' replacement?
They're football fans, they'll discuss the merits of managers as much as anybody else nevermind when it will be their new boss.
