Roy Keane possible return?

The daily fail recently reported that LVG would consider adding Roy Keane to his back room staff if he was appointed manager. It's probably bs but would you like to see Keane come back to Utd?

I think his no nonsense attitude alongside LVG would be immense

Keane will never get a job at United. You can bookmark that.

Not while Fergie is about anyway

On paper it seems like a recipe to turn Old Trafford into the setting for Battle Royale.

Then again, if Keane totally bought into LVG's vision - and we know that Keane is very much into discipline and sacrificing everything for the benefit of the team - and if he channelled that broad psychotic streak in a disciplined way (as he largely did when he was Fergie's general on the field) he could be some asset. The fact that he hasn't cut it as a number one doesn't mean he couldn't as a number two (cf. the managerial careers of several of Fergie's assistants).

Moreover, I'm not totally sold on the idea of Giggs as assistant / successor in waiting. I have a gut feeling he might not be solidly behind the new manager.

Also, if it were as messy as it could well turn out, it would be a bloody spectacle - but still a spectacle.

Totally agree. He has been pretty bitter since he left OT and there is no chance he will return.

Unless the new manager does what Giggs expects him to do, then I'd agree

As long the new manager plays attacking football I don't see Giggs being a problem. I just think that he was frustrated at us playing so negatively.

Whilst I do not think Keane is a better manager than Moyes I think he may well have done better than Moyes as manager this season. All hypothetical but looking at Keane's managerial history it is my opinion that he as frustrated at the fact that players he managed were not as good or had the same standards as him. At United that would not have been as much of a case and even if he had rattled a few cages it would have been quite fun to watch if the alternative was what we've seen this season. Keane's main gripe I feel is more with SAF than United and even though he has seemed harsh in recent times IMO it is down to his frustration at falling standards at United.

Anyone who was sat in the south stand under where the ITV box was positioned for the Bayern home leg would tell you he still very much loves United.........
