I recorded the Honduras vs. Switz. game . Mainly to see how good Shaquiri was, to say I was disappointed is an understatement . You may say but he scored a hat-trick , quite right , for me this summed up you-tube videos , everyone now who watches you tube for an idea how good Shaquiri is , will see his hat-trick which will probably be about 3 mins. you will not see how bad he was for the rest of the game . He is slow , overweight / not fit , & his work-rate was nil . His selling club will now want around 20 m on the strength of the 3 goals he scored . Why when we have Llallana , hopefully Markovich & two great young prospects like Sterling & Ibe do we need him ......we do not .

The OP does have a point. Prior to the Hond game he didn't impress me at all. He did look slow and unfit. However he has spent a couple of years on Bayern bench and treatment table and he does have bags of potential.
I'm 50/50 on this guy. He could be a superstar or he could just be a injury prone player who phases out. I've not seen Markovic play so have no idea about the pro's and con's between these two.

I think Markovic would settle into the Premiership quicker, he's more mobile and quite rangy.

There is a difference between unfit and fat.
I don't think it's surprising that Shaqiri hasn't looked at his best.
If it's true we are in for Markovic though then signing Shaqiri looks unlikely anyway.

I haven't seen a lot of Markovic to be honest but have seen a good bit of Shaqiri, he looks like he has the potential to be a top top player.

I like both players and very happy with Lallana who is quite unique. He's one of the few players I saw last season who out manoeuvred our midfield.
