Jonker in for Brady

Today the Dutchman starts with his work at Arsenal as the Head of Youth Development in a official capacity.

Andries Jonker replaces Liam Brady who officially retires from professional coaching and has agreed to take up an ambassadorial role with Arsenal, procuring and arranging Ferrero Rocher chocolates for various Arsenal related promotional functions.

I've posted a couple of articles regarding Jonker since the news of his appointment was made official, so I won't repeat myself, but I will echo my original sentiments that this is a bold, unusual and progressive appointment. Unusual in the sense that the appointment was purely Gazidis' doing and Wenger has given his thumbs-up to the appointment.

Jonker said prior to agreeing to taking the job that the ONLY way he'd be able to work would be if he was granted 100% creative-control and be given carte blanche to organise the youth set-up at the club, this includes identifying and signing young players. Previously Wenger has had (& demanded) total control, or at least the final say on these matters.

Full steam ahead on the Jonker train...

Hope Brady is a Bobby Charlton style ambassador rather than the Vieira mould
