Seems the British broadsheets are starting to pick up on the story now, Guardian say he's a £40m target with Nani possibly included in the deal. Hummels and Vermaelen are on Van Gaal's radar too for a new CB signing, with Hummels being his first choice option.

A bit off topic, but United in the last few hours are agreeing to sell Evra to Juve says Di Marzio. They'll discuss a fee with Juventus in the next few days.

I'm sure that won't be the only topic of discussion.

Seems silly letting Fabio buttner an Evra go in recent seasons only to now have to buy a cover for LB. I know we are supposed to be in vermaelen but that's very under whelming. Wouldn't mind Vertonghen.

If Marnick Vermijl is considered and given a chance he could establish himself as cover for both full-back positions.

Don't think that will happen TRS, I think we'll be in the market to replace him. Possibly Blind? Who knows.

Any particular reason?

I just think letting an experienced player go would mean we'd be in the market to replace him.

I don't see though why it would necessarily mean Vermijl won't still get a look in considering apart from Rafael, we don't have another natural RB in the first team squad and like I say, he can cover both positions.
I think people place too much importance on experience. Evra as a leader and as a character will be missed but as long he's replaced with sufficient quality, then I don't see the problem with him leaving.
Blind isn't all that experienced anyway.
