Hockaday post Italy

http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/latest-whites-news/leeds-united-hockaday-rules-out-panic-buys-1-6729453

“That’s Doukara. He’s honest, he’s hard working and he will put in a shift.

“The Leeds United fans whatever he does or doesn’t do, they will not be able to say that he hasn’t put in a shift because he’s a hard working lad."
------------
I'd love to hear that one day we sign someone who can excite rather than they can just put a shift in.

Well said Germany

Football fitness, Army / forces fitness, Tennis fitness etc is a contributing factor in allowing other parts of the body, including the brain and mind to operate at their full capacity.

Like you mentioned, some have quicker thinking than others, which makes them stand out.

How come Warwick, Geldered and Jonty didn't get it?

Warwick, Geldered, and Jonty to a certain extent,

I'm sure you've read most, if not all the comments on here, so all I'm going to say is, put the egg back on your face p/s is there any room left?

Luvr, You're continuing to confuse training and fitness.

Training can mean practising certain techniques, the skills needed - getting people to respond to a certain situation in a certain way. Training can include elements of work to improve fitness too.

People can be trained to drive a car. Are you going to claim that someone's ability to drive a car is all about their fitness?

Its not ALL about their fitness, but it is essential for proffessional drivers to be fit. F1 drivers, rally drivers and Moto GP riders all have to endure incredibily difficult fitness tests.

The fitter they are, the easier it is to complete each race throughout the season.

Nobody has said that only fitness can make you a good player, we know a strong mix of fitness, ability etc etc is needed. But without 1 of them its pointless having the rest.

Jud, Hockaday only talks about fitness.

That's where this whole debate came from.

he's only quoted talking about fitness.

he talks regular to his wife about how he likes to be chained up and spanked with salmon fillets

Spot on Warwick, as I said earlier, would love to hear him talking about other qualities but he doesn't.

Just hope team and style of play isn't a reflection of this one dimensional view of football.

I thought the coaches main job was the fittness, I thought the bossmanager was doing the rest!..

As far as the bossmanager said when McD was there, he said "I'll pick the team, bring players in, and sort the mess out my way!..

So, he's digging the dirt out, and filling the holes with what he want's there, here's hoping that when he's done he's brought the right stuff in to fill them hole's!..

Its said he has an eye for player's overlooked by the bigger teams, so here's hoping those that he's bringing in are those players that nobody here has a clue about, and if so he gets it right, they are the gems that the bigger clubs didn't see!..

And if the coach can do his job, then they'll be fitter when he's finished, and forget not, most teams we've been playing did seem to have that bit more about them!..

Besides, all shooting the coach down, it should be known that his job isn't that what McD had, and when the bossmanager get's it wrong he'll be the first to know!.

I can't see what the issue is. If anyone from ER says anything the usual posse dissect it, isolate anything remotely negative and then pronounce it.

If anyone on here really thinks the concentrate is on fitness alone then you're obviously not au fait with football coaching.

Fitness training is high on the agenda in pre-season. I didn't think we we're fit enough mentally or physically from the games I saw. I base that on previous performances, the opposition, my experience as a player and 40 plus years as a fan.

Hockaday apparently favours a passing game. I guess that'll form part of the training regime along with everything else. We'll see soon enough how effective we are when we play Millwall.

I'd expect at least a point from the Den.

Actions speak louder than words do they not?
