The Hock is filling a gap?

I can feel the unrest and nerves growing in the fans as we got beat the other day and already fingers starting to be raised towards The Hock.

His appointment was a massive surprise to everyone, probably no more so than himself. It's obvious that Cellino and Salerno are doing the transfer dealings and that Hock is just going to train and pick the players. Surely Redfearn would have been a better choice? Leeds fans already support Redfearn and know who he is...the Hock is just going to get blasted out of the water as soon as we lose 2 or 3 in a row.

I think it's pretty obvious that Hockaday in MCs mind is just plugging a gap until Benito Carbone has had his taste of the game as a coach. I think MC really wants Carbone to be the man to take us forward but he didn't want to throw him into the deep end. He wants to bleed him in slowly which is probably the right thing to do knowing the demands of the Leeds fans and how quickly MC drops his sword on managers.

Hockaday is nothing but a cheap filling solution until Carbone is ready IMO.

As for the dreary/chirpy debate that goes on in these boards, I'm caught between the 2. Pleased that MC has gotten rid of the deadwood but the replacements to date are nothing but names to us. I'm excitingly anxious for the season.

I agree H'Gate .......... we need at least 3 more quality signings - who knows Berardi and Bianchi might be gems, as might Silvestri? MC does have a history of picking players from obscurity only to sell them on for a decent profit. I'm sure he's signed some duds in amongst those, but then name a manager/owner who hasn't?!?!?

For me to have any chance of getting a pint off you, we still need a Vivani plus 2 of similar ability to sign. Otherwise, i'll be dipping into my pocket money for one of Signore Cellino's finest Peroni's before the match (match 10!)

Yes, a perceptive view from the original poster.

I see Hockaday as a sacrificial appointment. Like a fuse in an electrical circuit, that can be easily changed with no damage to other pieces of the jigsaw.

He doesn't have a likeable image that may see him get support from fans, and if he spends his time slave-driving the players to get them fit he won't establish too many allies there either.

Then finally I don't even think he has the intelligence or eloquence to criticise MC when he gets the chop.
