I remember Wenger wanted Ozil at the time. But the player wanted to stay in Germany for the world cup. If we had offered him higher wages I think he would have changed his mind. But obviously there was no will or probably the finances to do so. After the world cup Real Madid offered wages and chances of winning trophies beyond us! So he went there.

I believe we are in a better position now to compete in the market. However we still haven't won anything major for years. Bayern, City, Chelsea, Man Utd, Madrid, Barca all have. Thats why I think its very important to kick on and win the premier league as quickly as possible.

Wenger seems to be strengthening to do so. I think we are still a top striker away from that but window is still open. I think the major trophies will put us well into the virtuous circle.

Why is it weirding you out? Wenger has stated many times that since we moved to a new stadium we would have to go through a barren time in terms of spending. Last year signalled the end. Why are you surprised we are signing? Unleses you believed the morons who stated that Wenger is some kind of penny pincher afraid to spend cash
