This discussion comes up rdgularly and I agree with LIW.
Lets change the subject to how many captains do we have in our team?
I can only think of Pearce, then Warnock at a push.
There lies one of our major problems... Lack of a spine and leaders.
We need players like Shackell, Keogh etc

Pearce for me but there might be a surprise in store for us....

A leader is needed, some one who can gee them up or calm them down. You tend to see that if you have natural leaders the rest of team look for them for inspiration. It could be argued that maybe our team do not Communicate on the pitch well enough which is essential in any sport.

Captaincy is made out to be a bigger deal than it is, but still important.
The talent and quality needs to be in the team first and most importantly.
To me, Pearce seems to be someone who would thrive if he was captain and respect the honour

If they weren't necessary and weren't important it makes me wonder why Mr Revie and Mr Strachan made them Captain and why on earth we have that role in every team I've ever seen worldwide...?
Of course I also believe the opinion of Mr Revie and Mr Wilkinson (successful managers) are somewhat more sensible than that of a finance clerk.
I must be reading the wrong books.

Ooops, Mr Wilkinson not Mr Strachan in that 1st paragraph.
Mind, it's funny how Mr Strachan also has a captain at every team he's managed, perhaps he thinks they are needed too..?

Bremner was more of a general than a captain. I think Pearce is a good candidate but as I've said before, perhaps the captain hasn't even arrived yet?

"...
Glory, glory Leeds United
Glory, glory Leeds United
Glory, glory Leeds United
They're the greatest football team in all the land
Now little Billy Bremner is the captain of the crew
For the sake of Leeds United he will break himself in two
His hair is red and fuzzy and his body's black and blue
But Leeds go marchin' on
Glory, glory Leeds United
Glory, glory Leeds United
Glory, glory Leeds United
They're the greatest football team in all the land
Now first we won the League Cup and before so very long
The Inter-City's champions were really going strong
And once again at Wembley you will hear us sing this song
As Leeds go marchin' on
Glory, glory Leeds United
Glory, glory Leeds United
Glory, glory Leeds United
They're the greatest football team in all the land
In the Paddock and the Scratching Shed let's hear the voices sing
Let's get behind United and make the rafters ring
We're a team we can be proud of and Don Revie is the king
As Leeds go marchin' on
Glory, glory Leeds United
Glory, glory Leeds United
Glory, glory Leeds United
They're the greatest football team in all the land

Bremner Captain
Revie King
