SOMERS insisted no "sale or leaseback" deals had been discussed following a statement from supporters' coalition group the Union of Fans which accused the regime of plotting to flog the club's prized assets to stay afloat.
RANGERS chairman David Somers last night hit back at his club’s own fans by insisting categorically he has no plans to sanction the sale of Murray Park.
Somers contacted Record Sport following a statement from supporters’ coalition group the Union of Fans which accused the under-fire regime of plotting to raise emergency cash by flogging off the club’s prized assets , including the training facility at Auchenhowie.
And, while declining to be interviewed on the matter, Somers made the board’s position clear in writing and insisted that no “sale and leaseback" deals have been discussed.
He said: “There is a great deal of nonsense being written about possible sales of Rangers assets.
“The board has never discussed the sale and/or leaseback of any Rangers asset. Nor do I expect us to do so.
“Our mindset is to protect and enhance all the assets of the club for the benefit of future generations of fans and shareholders alike.
“The above applies to every one of our assets.
“I hope my email makes it clear my mindset is not to sell a single one of our assets, especially our Crown Jewels."

If the board feel as strongly about their determination never to sell Murray Park, then why did their recent statement about never selling Ibrox not include, at the same time, the 3 simple words "or Murray Park" .
That would have provided some reassurance to us, instead of more uncertainty, requiring yet more clarification
I stress the word 'some' as, like SDF and others, I don't think this board can be trusted. I suspect in their public utterances they are careful not to utter outright lies, but they are, deliberately, very economical with the truth which is a disgraceful way to treat our support

What happened to the proposed share issue ?

Apparently the share issue is due in September and is looking to raise 8m from existing shareholders giving them more control of Rangers, Ibrox and Murray Park. Should this fail to raise the required capital then an open sale for these shares will occur. If that fails then money must be raised by other means..."sale and leaseback" of some assets certainly would appear to be on the boards mind as a fallback!

Not my business but it would appear way easier if the board put to bed the "own them" "don't own them" The fans have been left in limbo concerning that
Is there perhaps some finacial reason why they wont do it? or it could be the board are sick of being asked?
Either way and yet again the only one's not getting peace of mind are the fans who have not had the best last 2-3 years

If the club didnt own Ibrox or Murray Park, then surely they could not include them as assets in the end of year accounts......they have been included, and if they are included again this year, they are still assets of the club, and the board doesnt need to come out and show folk the deeds or some $hit to prove it do they??

current ownership is not the issue, its to make sure the bastirts DONT sell them off on a sale and leaseback
