BTSport: Toure wants long City stay

There is one topic on everyone's lips this morning so there are no prizes for guessing who dominates today's headlines.

Of course, it's Yaya Toure. The global media are obviously keen watchers of CityTV because there are numerous media outlets who lead with the same story from the interview he conducted with us (which you can watch right here by the way!)

One of those sources is BTSport, who state: "Yaya Toure has reaffirmed his commitment to Manchester City and said he wants to stay at the club for 'as long as possible.'

"The Ivory Coast international has been persistently linked with a move away from Eastlands this summer after his agent Dimitry Seluk suggested the 31-year-old felt he had been treated disrespectfully by the club.

"Toure then suffered the heartache of losing his younger brother Ibrahim to cancer, while his country's World Cup campaign floundered, but the former Barcelona midfielder now feels composed and ready to focus on City again."

Toure told mcfc.co.uk: "It was not a case of leaving the club. It was difficult because my situation was quite difficult.

"For me, I was always quiet and my decision, if you want to say it like that, is that I will stay at Manchester City for as long as possible."

Excuse me while I punch the air. Yes!

Ahem... moving on and according to SkySports, Edin Dzeko has confirmed he is in talks with the Blues about signing a new deal at the Etihad.

A report on the website claims: "The 28-year-old Bosnia & Herzegovina international, who scored 26 goals last season, was speaking at a press conference ahead of City's International Champions Cup clash with Liverpool in New York on Wednesday."

The striker insisted: "I can only say that I am happy at City and at the moment we are talking about a new contract and we will see what happens, but the main thing is that I am happy at City."

Glad to hear it, Edin.

In other news, Gael Clichy believes City have signed one of the world's best full-backs in Bacary Sagna.

Quoted in an article in the Mirror, Clichy declares: "From my point of view, it’s great. He’s a very good friend of mine. I played with him for Arsenal and the national team.

"As a player, I think he was a great signing. Of course he was free, so that’s a big thing. To sign a player like him on the free is something amazing.

"I think we have probably one of the best right backs in the last five years since he joined Arsenal. He’s strong, he’s a great defender. He’s good going forward.

"That’s the kind of player you look for as a club, and he’s old enough to bring some experience.

"I don’t want to say too much because he’s a good friend, but it’s a great signing and I’m sure the fans are waiting for him to put the shirt on."

And finally, Fox Sports of America are seemingly relishing the prospect of City's Guinness International Champions Cup clash with Liverpool as columnist Leander Schaerlaeckens proves.

He writes: "It is still a relatively rare sight, soccer at Yankee Stadium.

"It will become a regular one next year when New York City FC begins play in Major League Soccer, squatting the baseball venue until it has its own home. But on Wednesday, we’ll get another of all that, as City – NYCFC’s mother club, not coincidentally – takes on the club it pipped at the wire for the Premiership last year.

"In a season that saw first place change hands 25 times, City eventually captured their second title in three years when Liverpool slipped up late.

"In 38 regular season games, both clubs scored over 100 goals – 102 to City and 101 to Liverpool – and the Reds will be fixated on showing that they can still compete, even though they’ve sold top scorer and star striker Luis Suarez to Barcelona. Actually, not just compete, but win.

"Few question that these sides will be in the hunt for the Premier League once again next spring. And if you’d like an idea of what that could look like, this game might offer a sneak peek."

I can't wait!

That's all for today. Check back to mcfc.co.uk at the same time tomorrow for another round-up of City-related media speculation. In the meantime, have you ordered the new away kit for 2014/15 yet?

I think the headline says it all. Previously it would have been Yaya wants not Toure wants.
