Long, I think what you're saying sounds about right. It feels like Lees wasn't wanted and we wanted to cut the wages.

Undisclosed fees are the devil's work.

I'm not too bothered about undisclosed fees to be honest. Not so sure knowing how much a player cost or what he was sold for makes much difference.

We never see the true figure anyway with the various add-ons that are linked to becoming an international, playing x amount of games etc.. Then you have the agents' fees, the player's fee, sometimes a % going to a former club etc etc.

Do we feel empowered? Does it make us support the club more or less knowing what we paid out or what came in?

Knowing the detail can turn the supporters against a player perceiving lack of value for money either in fee or wages. Do we like a carp player more because he only costs £500 a week and we got him for nothing?

Opinion on Hunt was divided but more turned against him when "details" of his wages were put into the public domain.

We live in an age where media rules and the quest for information never being higher. The problem is that we aren't equipped to handle the information logically, we run away with that information on face value and that's when the trouble starts.....

Not suggesting we should all be mushrooms but there must be a happy medium don't you think?

So basically we wanted rid and would have had to pay up his contact (2 years at £10k per week (reported) = £1m.)

Sheffield paid us that money so that we could pay up Lees contract. So whilst we don't have the money up front we have saved just over £1m if reports of his wage are correct.

A fair result for everyone tbh. SW obviously rated him in the £1m bracket. Lees gets a new club and a pay off and we free up wages for our replacement.

Whatever we've saved by him going now should be used by the club to pay the wages of someone else.

As I understand it, where someone else considers he was not wanted by the club, I understand it has been said that he actually wanted to leave.

But if he didn't put in a transfer request we would have to pay up or at least negotiate a pay off?
