Town v Newcastle

last 'friendly' before the main action starts.....

Robins has said he'll play two sides , one for each half...so it might be chance to see how the young uns compare to the 1st team ?

not sure if newcastle will have all their 7 new signings on display...but they also lost at oldham in an earlier friendly...so who knows ?

tbh it seems daft having a game like this just 3 days before the season starts..and i'm not sure how many fans will turn up...no doubt newcastle will bring a few, and it's only £15 in...

anyway, i'll be there..showing my loyalty to the cause...even tho' we've not really signed any of the big 3 names we were hoping for...

I'd of thought Boro or Brighton, if one of them sign him, will pay compensation to buy Clayton out of his contract.

How it works lv is if a club agree a fee for a player and said player has not requested a transfer....the selling club has to pay in full the remainder of his contract

so clayts has at least half a million off town before he picks up his share of the fee signing on fee etc

nice life a footballer eh

We basically let him go for about 3/400 k

I thought it was a good game tonight, really enjoyed it. The kids/second team really had a go when they came on and played without fear. It was good to see. Thought St Ledger had a decent game and noticed he was instructing and marshalling everyone around him, think he would be a good signing.

Although disappointed Clayton's gone I'm feeling a bit more optimistic for the season.

2nd goal

watched the game from the upper tier of the riverside, and thus unable to make out half of the players...thought Scannell started slowly, and peltier was poor..we seem to be intent on passing back too often when we had a player calling for the ball further forward...

2nd half was better, the young uns not overawed by the big money players NUFC had on the pitch...got stuck in a few times..Billing looked good in midfield too.

my main concern was the massive hole in our defence during the 1st half which NUFC exploited time and again...and also we seemed short on the left side of midfield quite often.

entertaining though, and maybe it will encourage the players and management a bit for the important game on saturday (thread ?).

I'll have to sit nearer the pitch in future....

Ey up Waltz, I think you've got that wrong about transfers.

If a player is sold but doesn't request a transfer then the club have to pay up his loyalty bonus which is agreed at the beginning of his contract and paid over the length of the contract.

If he requests a transfer then he gives up the right to the bonus payments.
