Will we be a bit more adventurous this time

well without the normal rush of new signings it appears that we will be kicking off the season with virtually the same players that we finished last season with.

In some ways thats not a bad thing as it will give us some indication about the impact that the new manager has or has not had. I actually believe he will do ok and altho I think a draw with the spammers is highly likely I am looking forward to seeing any differences in the way we play under MP.

One things for sure it cannot possibly be as boring as our opening game against Palace last season.

I've seen a difference in the style under Poch, we tend to go gun ho and press high up, in the last 20 mins vs Schalke we died on our feet and left ourselves open, Schalke should have snatched a draw for me.

I'd take a draw away to West Hoof, but after watching them pre-season they've been dire, with no Andy Carroll and just Carlton Cole up top we can beat them, they;d just flood the midfield again.

"i don't care if we are boring again and get another 3 points v west ham"

And probably will be against QPR too (remember their last home game against Spurs when Arry set their MF to completely choke us ) .

"This is a problem Southampton had under Poch. To play that sort of game for 90 minutes the fitness levels have to be off the chart."

If you keep possession a lot then you don't waste energy doing that.
But we know too well the problem if you do this but have no fast/incisive attack.

We were a bit like that when Rodgers first took over, until the players learnt to press at certain times, keeping the ball and moving it quickly is the key. Keep the ball and you don't need to press.

The probl for spurs is, I don't think you have the right players to match that system.

He's a good manager though. And we tend to struggle against Southampton, so the game at WHL shoujd be good.

Yes definitely!

We'll be more organised in both defence and attack, and hopefully entertaining again

I can see why people will say they dont care if we are boring or not 3 points is all that matters but thats a short term option.

Yes we were boring at Palace and got 3 points but look at the rest of the season whenever we played a half decent side.

We took that boring unadventurous style of play from our opening game and continued with it for another 9 months or so

If we are looking at Spurs to play like a Soton 2013-14 clone, IMHO it will take until October before we see that. If the squad get acclimatised to the Pochettino way quicker than that, all the better.

Until then, I expect the first few PL games to play out like some of last season (which will mean tedious football from Spurs) .
